Emulation and rewards: The driving force for innovation and development of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector in the new period

Under the leadership of the Party, following the direction of Directive 41-CT/TW dated December 26, 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) has implemented emulation and reward work in a practical, fair, transparent manner and closely linked to the political and professional tasks of each unit and achieved many excellent results.

Emulation and reward work is an important part of the political system, a vivid expression of the spirit of responsibility, creativity and dedication. For the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector (CST), which carries out the mission of cultivating culture, training physical fitness, developing tourism and promoting the country's image, emulation and reward are not simply a formality, but are actually a strategic lever, promoting innovation every day, arousing the desire to contribute in each individual and each unit.

The culture, sports and tourism sector always requires a team of cadres, civil servants, artists, tour guides, coaches... who are not only good at their profession but also need a high sense of responsibility, constant creativity and enthusiasm for the profession. Competition is the environment for those qualities to be nurtured, challenged and shine. Meanwhile, rewards - right people, right job, timely and public - are the respect, recognition of contributions, encouragement to replicate good models, good practices, spreading positive values ​​throughout the sector and society.

Deeply aware of that meaning, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under the leadership of the Party — following the direction of Directive 41-CT/TW dated December 26, 2024 — has implemented emulation and rewards in a practical, fair, transparent manner and closely linked to the political and professional tasks of each unit. The Directive emphasizes the innovation of emulation content and methods, encourages initiatives, technical improvements, and the application of science and technology, suitable to the new context.

At the 4th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (2025-2030), Minister Nguyen Van Hung affirmed: "Patriotic emulation is not only a form of encouragement and commendation, but also a driving force and an important spiritual 'lever' to encourage creativity, responsibility and efficiency in each professional task."

The Minister emphasized that emulation movements must be substantive, rewarding "the right people, the right jobs, clear responsibilities, clear results", creating a healthy competitive environment, improving labor productivity, and promoting initiatives and innovation throughout the industry. Thanks to that, many advanced models have emerged: artists and artisans creating valuable works of art, athletes and sports coaches constantly training to bring glory to the country, museums, relics, cultural and tourism centers daring to innovate, apply digital technology, improve management efficiency, and better serve the needs of the public and tourists. These individuals and groups are living proof of the spirit of competition, making practical contributions to the development of the industry.

Not only that, many new models and effective initiatives have been widely spread: digital museums, smart tourism, digital transformation in culture - sports - tourism management, models of building grassroots cultural life, developing mass sports associated with improving people's health, promoting the value of national cultural heritage... Those models not only improve service quality but also contribute to preserving culture, promoting creativity, spreading human values, building the image of a dynamic, creative and civilized Vietnam.

Propaganda work, spreading advanced models, and linking emulation with major national movements — such as "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas", "The culture, sports and tourism sector joins hands to build grassroots cultural life", "Emulation in innovation, digital transformation and digital-based learning" — further increases the spread and creates a vibrant competitive atmosphere. Each unit and individual not only strives to complete assigned tasks, but also proudly contributes to building a rich, beautiful, civilized and developed country.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented flowers and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung awarded Certificates of Merit to individuals with outstanding achievements in the fields of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism in the 2023 - 2025 period.

In fact, in the period 2021-2025, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has presented nearly 400 Labor Medals, nearly 800 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, 26 units were awarded the "Government Emulation Flag"; a series of artists, artisans, athletes, and officials of the units were awarded noble titles. Those numbers are not only "rewards", but also proof of dedication, creativity, overcoming difficulties, and encouraging the whole industry to continue to strive.

Looking to the future, as Vietnam enters a new era of development — with higher demands for integration, creativity, and sustainable development — emulation and rewards become increasingly important. It not only contributes to building a team of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and artists with courage, expertise, and ethics, but is also an important internal resource for the culture, sports, and tourism sector to fulfill its mission: preserving national identity, promoting cultural values, raising people's knowledge, improving spiritual life, developing sports and tourism — while spreading the image of a dynamic, creative, and civilized Vietnam to the world.

Therefore, the whole industry needs to continue to innovate emulation methods, expand evaluation criteria, pay attention to initiatives and real effectiveness; reward fairly and transparently; discover, foster and replicate advanced models; and at the same time, link emulation with political and professional tasks, major movements and national development goals.

With that spirit, emulation and rewards will forever be a sacred flame, lighting up the desire for dedication, innovation, and creativity, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture with a strong identity; developing sports, tourism, and culture - becoming spearheads to enhance the country's position on the regional and world map.
