Deputy Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) Nguyen Xuan An said that in the past 5 years, the emulation and reward work of the agriculture and environment sector has been carried out regularly, continuously and associated with key political tasks such as: building new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction, eliminating temporary housing, implementing office culture, innovation and digital transformation, and the campaign to get rich - clean up the land database.

Along with that, many specialized emulation movements were launched extensively in each field: developing ecological agriculture, advanced new rural areas; applying VietGAP production processes, tracing origins; protecting and developing forests; paying for forest environmental services; preventing natural disasters, building key irrigation works and minimizing plastic and nylon pollution in the field of natural resources and environment...

The commendation work is carried out in accordance with regulations, promptly, publicly, democratically, focusing on direct workers, small groups, and disadvantaged areas. The work of propaganda, setting examples, and replicating advanced models is promoted through specialized pages, columns, and commendation conferences... Many good models and good practices in building new rural areas, reducing poverty, applying science and technology, and protecting the environment are spread throughout the industry and locality.

Accordingly, in the period of 2020 - 2025, the agricultural and environmental sectors have been recognized and honored by the Party, State and Government with many noble awards. Specifically, 15 individuals were awarded the title "National Emulation Fighter", 65 collectives were awarded the Emulation Flag of the Government, along with 4 Independence Medals, 379 Labor Medals of various ranks and 606 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment awarded 525 titles of Emulation Fighter at the Ministry level, 471 Emulation Flags, 7,038 Certificates of Merit from the Minister and 7,867 Medals, recognizing the outstanding contributions of collectives and individuals in the whole industry.

Mr. An emphasized that emulation movements have become an important driving force to promote restructuring of the agricultural sector, improve the efficiency of resource management, protect the environment and proactively respond to climate change. Thanks to the widespread patriotic emulation movements, the whole sector has overcome many difficulties, maintained a stable growth rate, contributing to the completion of socio-economic development goals for the period 2020 - 2025.

In the 2020 - 2025 period, the average growth rate of added value of the whole industry reached 3.12%/year, exceeding the set target; the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production increased by 3.52%/year. 2024 is considered a special milestone for the industry, when the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached a record 62.5 billion USD, an increase of 18.7% compared to 2023 - the highest increase in the past two decades. Agricultural exports continued to maintain a strong growth momentum, with 11 items reaching a turnover of over 1 billion USD, of which 7 items exceeded 3 billion USD.

With the current growth momentum, the agricultural sector is expected to reach about 70 billion USD in export turnover in 2025, affirming the increasingly solid position of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market.

Speed up competition, affirm position

At the 80th anniversary of the agriculture and environment sector and the first Patriotic Emulation Congress held on November 12, General Secretary To Lam awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. At the same time, he commended 30 cooperatives, 24 exemplary farmers and farm owners; 57 collectives and 151 individuals who are typical examples of advanced ministries and sectors with outstanding achievements in patriotic emulation movements in the period 2020 - 2025.

Entering the 2025 - 2030 period, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment launched an emulation movement with the motto "Tradition - Innovation - Development - Sustainability".

Deputy Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel Nguyen Xuan An said that the industry will continue to closely follow the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, resolutions and strategies on agriculture, farmers, rural areas, natural resources and environment; promote the strength of solidarity, self-reliance and self-strengthening; and promote patriotic emulation associated with implementing key goals.

In order for the patriotic emulation movement to truly become a driving force for development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has identified a number of tasks and solutions. First, thoroughly grasp and concretize the Party and State's policies on emulation and rewards; continue to strongly respond to emulation movements launched by the Central Government and the Prime Minister, and at the same time concretize them into the conditions and characteristics of the industry such as: "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas", "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind".

Improve the quality of activities of emulation blocs and clusters, strengthen coordination between the Ministry and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, branches, localities, and socio-political organizations to mobilize social resources, accompany farmers and the community in implementing emulation movements.

Strengthen inspection, supervision, interim and final review of emulation movements. Focus on timely discovery, training, honoring and rewarding typical advanced collectives and individuals, especially farmers, businesses and grassroots cadres with many initiatives and effective models, creating a widespread impact throughout the industry.

Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang called on the entire sector to constantly compete in innovation and creativity, turning pride into strength, turning aspirations into concrete actions, and determined to excellently complete all tasks entrusted by the Party, State and People. "The agricultural and environmental sectors will unite, make persistent efforts, and join hands to build a strong, prosperous, green and sustainable Vietnam, so that our homeland will become more and more 'decent and beautiful' as beloved Uncle Ho always wished," the Minister emphasized.
