Recently, the Miss Vietnam 2024 pageant announced 60 finalists, while emphasizing the criteria of the pageant that aim at traditional values, the beauty and virtue of Vietnamese women. An interesting point is that the Miss Vietnam pageant organizers use the province code on the license plate to assign registration numbers according to the hometowns of the contestants.

According to the plan, the contest will select beauties representing 63 provinces and cities nationwide. However, the organizers only recruited 60 beauties from 50 provinces and cities. Thus, 13 provinces did not have any beauties participating in the contest. Ho Chi Minh City had 5 beauties participating, the locality with the largest number. In addition to the Talented Beauty contest, the organizers added a contest on home economics, cooking skills and flower arrangement... to award the Home Economics Beauty prize.
Judge – Miss Ha Kieu Anh said: “The competition will be more unique when the contestants have to demonstrate their talents and skills in embroidery, sewing, cooking, and flower arrangement. Therefore, right from the beginning of the competition, all contestants must prepare or learn special skills to demonstrate their ability in home economics.”
Ms. Pham Kim Dung, Head of the Organizing Committee, said: “This is the first time a beauty pageant has a Home Economics competition. In today’s era, helping young girls learn how to cook, sew, and arrange flowers is also important and necessary.” The Organizing Committee hopes that contestants can bring many local specialties or special flower arrangements to introduce to the audience. This competition will take place on December 15.
The final round of the Miss Vietnam 2024 pageant will be held on the evening of December 28 in Ho Chi Minh City. The crowned contestant will wear an ao dai combined with a phoenix robe designed by designer Tran Thien Khanh from Hue. General director Hoang Nhat Nam said that this outfit is as splendid and elegant as the evening gown. The organizing committee also announced that the first season of Miss Vietnam 2024 will represent Vietnam in the Miss International pageant and visit 5 countries, including Japan. This is an opportunity to promote the beauty and culture of Vietnam to friends around the world .
Beauty pageants in Vietnam today not only judge beauty and appearance but also focus on talents and special abilities. The Miss Grand Vietnam contest has a singing competition called the Grand Voice Award for contestants to demonstrate their vocal abilities. It is understandable that currently, the "output" of the beauty queens is mostly "crossing over" to become singers, MCs, fashion models, and film actors. It can be mentioned that runners-up Kieu Loan and Ngoc Hang sing; Miss Tieu Vy, Thuy Tien, Thien An, and Luong Thuy Linh have appeared in many recent movies. Even Miss H'Hen Nie, despite participating in many community and charity works, still took the time to act in movies and try her hand at singing in the program Chi dep dap gio xuong song last year.
It can be said that beauty queens today are more “diverse”, not only being “flower vases” for people to admire their beauty, but also aiming for the criterion of “fragrance” in many different ways. However, how that “fragrance” is depends on the ability of each beauty and the direction and strategy of the beauty queen management companies.
