At the festival, a parent said that currently on the Ministry of Education and Training's application registration system, there is only a section for registering information about applications and updating data, which is the English certificate. The parent was concerned about the different admission methods at each school, and how the data connection between the Ministry of Education and Training and the schools will be carried out smoothly to produce a common admission result.
Another parent asked, if a major of a university has multiple combinations of admissions, can candidates apply for admission with multiple combinations of admissions for a certain major?

According to Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duy Hai, Head of Admissions and Career Guidance Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, currently, the admission registration system that the Ministry of Education and Training opened from July 16-28, candidates only need to perform 3 steps: First, enter the order of their wishes; second, choose a school; third, choose a major. Then click save to complete.
“The rest, the Ministry of Education and Training’s system will be responsible for considering each candidate’s registered wish. For each such wish, the system will calculate and automatically select the highest score that the candidate has to use for consideration. Thus, candidates do not need to register for combinations, starting points of exams, etc. This task will belong to the software system that calculates for candidates. 100% guarantee that no candidate will be selected for a lower combination or scoring method for consideration. Candidates will be selected for the highest score for consideration for that wish,” said Mr. Hai.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh, Vice Principal of Phenikaa University, said that this year, the Ministry of Education and Training does not limit the combinations. “That means schools will choose the number of combinations that are suitable for the candidates’ training majors. Thus, a training program can be considered by many combinations of candidates,” said Mr. Khanh.

Professor Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), said that if a major has 4-5 combinations, the Ministry of Education and Training's system will choose the combination with the highest score of the candidate to consider. "Thus, candidates do not have to worry about declaring their scores for group A, B or C,... that is the System's job," said Mr. Thao.
Mr. Thao added that with the results of individual exams, the exam organizing units are responsible for updating data and information about the exam results on the Ministry of Education and Training's admission portal. "However, the Ministry's admission portal also has information to check the scores. If by this time, candidates have not seen their Thinking Assessment test scores or Ability Assessment test scores, they need to contact the universities that organized the exams," Mr. Thao said.
Regarding the consideration of wishes, the scores are considered from high to low. If two candidates have the same score, the candidate with the higher wish will be admitted, however, according to Mr. Thao, this (if it happens) is usually very rare.

Professor Nguyen Tien Thao said that this year, the difference compared to previous years is that the admission scores will be converted between the groups to ensure maximum fairness for candidates. “A training major can be recruited using many groups, the difference in scores between the groups will be adjusted according to the percentile. The Ministry of Education and Training plans to announce this conversion with the percentile of the 5 traditional groups (A00, B00, A01, C00, D01) on July 21 or 22, then announce the threshold to ensure input quality for the health and teacher training sectors.
At the festival, a parent also wondered whether the candidates' wishes registered on the Ministry of Education and Training's system must match or be in the same order as the order on the schools' own systems.
Regarding this, Professor Thao said that the admission process of schools is independent and is only for reference to that particular school. Registering your wishes on the Ministry of Education and Training's Admission System is mandatory and final. "If candidates register on the school's system but not on the Ministry of Education and Training's admission portal, it is meaningless. In case candidates have not registered any wishes on the school's system, they can still register on the Ministry of Education and Training's System and this is considered the official channel for all," said Mr. Thao.
