Regarding consumer trends, daily demand focuses on fresh food items such as vegetables, seafood, and meat (pork, beef). In addition, items for spiritual purposes such as flowers and fresh fruit for New Year offerings and the burning of votive paper continue to maintain stable demand.
Regarding price trends, the overall price level has remained relatively stable compared to the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year). Any slight increases are localized at small retail outlets. In supermarket chains, prices are fixed and accompanied by many promotional programs to celebrate the start of the new year.
According to the overall assessment of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, the market on the third day of Tet was stable, with abundant supply, balanced supply and demand, and no shortages or price spikes, creating a favorable foundation for the market in the following days of the holiday.
There will be no unusual price increases.
According to forecasts from the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, on the fourth day of Tet (Lunar New Year), many supermarkets, convenience stores, traditional markets, and grocery stores will begin to open more frequently, offering a wider variety of goods. However, consumer demand in the market has not yet increased significantly; purchasing power remains mainly focused on fresh food, vegetables, and fruits.
As people continue their spring outings and holiday trips, the market for goods in major cities and tourist destinations, temples, and pagodas is more vibrant. The supply of basic food items meets consumer demand.
Prices for most goods will remain stable compared to the days leading up to Tet; any slight increase will only be localized at small retail outlets. Prices at supermarkets are stable, not increasing compared to the period before Tet. At traditional markets, food prices are expected to be lower than in the days before Tet due to increased supply. Eating out continues to increase. Overall, the market is developing according to normal patterns without any unusual price increases.
The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development also added that it has proactively implemented solutions to ensure the supply of goods for Tet, especially food, confectionery, beverages, and essential consumer goods, which are basically abundant and meet the increased demand of people in the days leading up to Tet.
Regarding petroleum products, the management of fuel prices continues to be strictly implemented, closely following the fluctuations in world petroleum product prices, ensuring the principle of a market economy with state management, ensuring a balance of interests between the State, businesses, and consumers, while proactively developing scenarios to respond to unusual fluctuations. Price adjustments are carried out publicly, transparently, in accordance with regulations, and promptly reflect the upward and downward trends of the international market, contributing to limiting negative impacts on production, business, and people's lives.
Regarding market inspection and control, functional forces are required to proactively monitor the area, closely track supply and demand and price developments; promptly detect and strictly handle violations such as speculation, hoarding, unreasonable price increases, smuggling, commercial fraud, trading in counterfeit and substandard goods, and violations of food safety regulations. At the same time, they should strengthen coordination with police, customs, and local authorities in inspecting and controlling key routes and areas; promote the dissemination of laws and regulations, contributing to maintaining market stability, ensuring consumer rights and social welfare during the Lunar New Year of 2026.
The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development stated that market management forces have strictly controlled warehouses, goods collection and transshipment points; logistics service businesses; industrial zones; wholesale markets; and commercial centers. Simultaneously, they have intensified monitoring of business activities in e-commerce, social media platforms, and digital technology applications to promptly detect and severely punish acts of trading, transporting, and storing prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, and violations of intellectual property rights.
