Every time Tet comes, spring comes, the spring atmosphere is bustling everywhere and choosing to buy flower pots and ornamental plants becomes a familiar thing for many families to decorate their houses during Tet.

To meet customer demand, since early December 2024, businesses in Lang Son city have imported flowers and ornamental plants from all regions.

Present at the flower and ornamental plant shop kiosk No. 2, resettlement area of the wood workshop bus station (old Lang Son bus station), Ngo Quyen street, Vinh Trai ward, we clearly felt the bustling Tet shopping atmosphere with a large number of customers these days.

Ms. Luu Thi Van, the shop owner, said: This year, customers tend to choose colorful flowers such as yellow, orange, red, purple. To meet the demand, I proactively ordered flowers from the beginning of November 2024 at flower and ornamental garden gardens in Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh and some neighboring provinces.

Through research, we learned that Ms. Van's shop imported a large quantity of flowers such as phalaenopsis orchids, chrysanthemums, poinsettias, azaleas, bonsai kumquats, etc. According to Ms. Van, this year's Tet flower crop, due to the impact of storm No. 3 ( Yagi ), many flower growing areas were flooded and had crop failures.

Therefore, the price of flowers this year has increased slightly by 3 - 5% compared to last year, ranging from 100 thousand VND to several million VND/plant, in which Phalaenopsis orchids are the main flower with prices ranging from 1 - 10 million VND/pot, depending on the number of flower pots. On average, the shop welcomes 100 - 150 customers per day, 5 - 6 times higher than normal days.

Ms. Lam Thi Ha, owner of a shop in the same row of kiosks, resettlement area of the old wood workshop bus station, Ngo Quyen street, Vinh Trai ward said: In recent years, consumers tend to choose ornamental plants with colors according to feng shui, plants that match the five elements with the concept of bringing fortune, prosperity and luck to themselves and all family members. This year's Tet holiday, my shop imported plants such as: silver dollar, camellia, phalaenopsis orchid, chrysanthemum... For example, the silver dollar tree on sale at the shop costs from 130 - 180 thousand VND/tree. The average number of customers increased 3 - 5 times compared to normal days.

Talking to us, Ms. Vi Phuong Thao (Hoang Van Thu ward), a customer who bought flowers here, shared: Like every year, I often choose Phalaenopsis orchids to beautify my house during Tet. Buying early not only helps me choose beautiful flowers but also avoids the scarcity and price increase when Tet is near. I bought my flower for about 2 million VND and I am very satisfied. If the weather is favorable and not humid, the flower can keep its beauty for up to 2 months.

Surveying some flower and ornamental plant shops in Hoang Van Thu ward, Dong Kinh, we learned that basically the prices of flowers and ornamental plants serving customers during the Lunar New Year At Ty have increased slightly compared to last year due to the impact of the weather, making it difficult to plant and care for flowers and ornamental plants.

However, according to many business owners, the supply of this item is still guaranteed to meet the needs of customers. In addition, compared to last year, the designs of flowers and ornamental plants are more diverse and abundant. In particular, this year's purchasing power is somewhat higher, according to many shop owners, the number of customers at this time increased by about 10% compared to the same period.

This year, in addition to traditional plants such as peach, apricot, and kumquat, the market has seen many new flower varieties such as ruby chrysanthemum, raspberry chrysanthemum, magnolia, immortelle, million bells, four-season tea tree, lipstick tree, dwarf gerbera, hydrangea... with unique color combinations and mini bonsai plants suitable for small spaces.

The highlight of last year is the appearance of products with different designs and models from potted plants, hanging baskets, table plants, plants grown in driftwood, hydroponic plants, etc.

People still prioritize plants with good feng shui meanings, such as kumquat trees symbolizing wealth, or peach blossoms symbolizing luck, along with high-class Phalaenopsis orchids as gifts for Tet. The richness and creativity in the decoration is attracting a large number of customers.

Ms. Do Thi Bich Hong, owner of kiosk No. 2, T2 football field, Dinh Tien Hoang street, Chi Lang ward, Lang Son city, said: The flower and ornamental plant market is extremely vibrant this year during Tet. Popular flowers include phalaenopsis orchids, immortelle flowers, mini grafted peach trees, bonsai kumquats and chrysanthemums. Buyers often prioritize plants that are beautiful, durable and easy to care for to decorate their homes.

According to Ms. Hong, the prices at her kiosk have not fluctuated much, but the number of customers coming to see and buy flowers at this time has increased 4-5 times compared to normal days. One of the types of flowers that customers are interested in is chrysanthemums, with the largest yellow chrysanthemum at the store currently being sold for 190,000 VND/plant. Ms. Hong also recommends that customers buy flowers early to have more choices and avoid shortages or price increases near Tet.

The Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025 is approaching. The market for ornamental plants and flowers for Tet is also becoming more and more bustling. Although there are slight fluctuations in prices, most people still spend time and money to choose the most satisfactory flower pots and ornamental plants to beautify their homes. For people, during Tet, decorating with flowers and ornamental plants not only beautifies the living space but also brings with it expectations for a peaceful and prosperous new year.
