The average annual capital raised through equities over the past five years has been only VND88 trillion, or about $4 billion. Bonds account for the majority, with an annual average of VND244 trillion (or $10 billion) in government bonds and VND386 trillion (or $16 billion). However, corporate bonds are mainly concentrated in two main sectors: real estate and banking.

Savings mobilization through institutional investors remains limited. The total size of Vietnam's institutional investors reached only 18% of GDP in 2021, lower than other countries, showing the untapped potential of Vietnam's capital market.
