According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security of South Korea, as of 5:00 a.m. this morning, July 20, local time, 10 people were killed and 9 people were missing due to floods and landslides in several provinces and cities of the country. By 11:00 a.m. this morning, the number of victims had increased to 14, and 12 people were missing with a very low chance of survival. The most severely damaged locality was Sancheong, with 8 unfortunate victims.

Floods, landslides, mudslides, and flash floods have also damaged 1,920 important public facilities and 2,234 private facilities. Currently, 9,694 households with 13,209 people have had to take refuge in extremely difficult living conditions. The extreme weather has also negatively affected 58 flights to and from South Korean airports.
According to the Meteorological Agency, from July 16 to today, “unprecedented in a century” heavy rains have fallen in many areas of Korea, with some areas recording rainfall of nearly 800mm. Up to now, heavy rains are still continuing in many areas of Korea, and heavy rains are forecast to continue in many places this afternoon. Accordingly, the loss of life and property due to natural disasters is likely to continue to increase.
Up to now, there is still no information about Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Korea suffering damage caused by this historic natural disaster.
