The male singer said that he discovered his passion for music very early, after accidentally recording his voice at the first karaoke bar in Ho Chi Minh City. However, his professional singing career officially began in 1993.

"At that time, the concept of recording was still very strange, I never thought I would hear my own voice again. Because I loved singing so much, I asked my mother to open a karaoke bar, my job was to press the button to select songs for customers and then sing with them for fun. That was really a turning point, a good condition for me to be able to pursue a singing career," Lam Truong shared.

Recalling memories of his early singing days, Lam Truong said that in 1995, he participated in the program Tinh da bay xa 1 with the song "Tieng flute phieu bong".

In 1996, he officially signed an exclusive contract with Viet Hung Center. Within a year, he recorded 200 songs for 20 million.

"That was a huge amount of money. At that time, a Dream motorbike cost about 13 million. After receiving the money, I immediately bought a Dream. Holding my first salary and being able to buy a Dream motorbike, I felt proud and happy. At that time, a Dream motorbike was my big dream.

My little dream was to buy a box of moon cakes to eat, because at that time it was still difficult, during the Mid-Autumn Festival my mother would buy a box of four tiny cakes. After finishing the meal, my mother would cut each of us a slice as thin as a piece of paper, which would melt in our mouths.

I wanted to ask for more but I didn't have any. At that time, I thought that when I had money to sing, I would buy myself a big moon cake to eat," the male singer confided.

Lam Truong was an artist with great influence in Vietnamese youth music in the 90s.

That's why one of the first things Lam Truong did when he had money from singing was to buy a box of four mixed moon cakes for his family.

"I invited my family of more than 10 people to have 2 moon cakes, and I ate two by myself. But eating them was not enough, so I made a pot of tea and went to the terrace to watch the moon while eating the cakes. There are small dreams but for me they are truly unforgettable," he said.

There was a time, I sang 8 shows a night.

In response to the question: "What is the most important thing in Lam Truong's career and life?" by MC Anh Tuan, Lam Truong mentioned the most important stages in his life.

"When I first started singing, my career was the most important thing. I remember there was a time when I did 8 shows a night, and I sang four songs in each show. That meant I sang 32 songs a night. Sometimes it was too much effort, but because I was so passionate, I didn't mind. But everyone has a period like that.

Now that I have a family, I think I shouldn't be selfish even though my passion for music has never faded. But now that I have a wife and children, I think I need to know how to balance and harmonize my career, health and family," Lam Truong confided.

Behind his brilliant singing career, Lam Truong said he always has the support of his family members.

"My family has 11 siblings, 6 brothers and 4 sisters. All 10 people love and support my singing career. Only my father is difficult and doesn't want me to pursue a singing career.

My whole family supported me so I could sing. To this day, I think 70% of my success is thanks to my family," the singer recalled.

Lam Truong was born in 1974. He was one of the most popular male singers in the late 1990s and early 2000s with many hits such as: "Love is so sad", "Vail shoes", "Katy Katy". The singer married for the second time to Yen Phuong, 17 years younger than him, in 2014.
