Severe cold weather is affecting agricultural production and people's lives. Strong winds and gusts, along with large waves at sea, could impact shipping and other activities.
To proactively respond to the severe cold spell, according to the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense, affected provinces and cities should closely monitor warning and forecast bulletins on the development of the cold air mass and promptly inform local authorities and the public to proactively take appropriate preventive measures.
Local authorities are implementing measures to respond to the severe cold weather, particularly strengthening guidance on ensuring people's health; avoiding the use of charcoal stoves for heating in enclosed rooms to prevent loss of life; disseminating information and guiding livestock farmers to reinforce and shelter their barns; stockpiling feed, keeping animals warm, and preventing and controlling diseases in livestock and poultry; and providing guidance on measures to ensure the safety of rice, vegetable, and other crop production.
Coastal provinces and cities need to closely monitor warning and forecast bulletins and the development of strong winds at sea; inform captains and owners of vessels and boats operating at sea so they can proactively take preventive measures and plan their production accordingly, ensuring the safety of people and property; and maintain communication to promptly handle any adverse situations that may occur.
