Weather on November 2: Cold air strengthens, heavy rain in the North and Central regions

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the morning of November 2, the cold air mass from the North is still moving south. It is forecasted that around noon and afternoon of the same day, the cold air will affect the Northeast region, then expand to the Northwest, North Central and some places in the Central Central region.

From the night of November 2 to 4, the North, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have rain, some places will have moderate rain. Northeast wind level 2-3, coastal areas level 3-4. Temperatures will drop sharply, from the night of November 2, the Northeast and Thanh Hoa will turn cold, some highland areas will be very cold. The Northwest and Nghe An will be cold, from the night of November 3 to 4, it will turn cold. The lowest temperature is commonly 16-19 degrees Celsius, some mountainous areas below 15 degrees Celsius.

Due to the influence of cold air combined with high-altitude easterly wind disturbances, from the morning of November 2 to the morning of November 4, the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai had heavy to very heavy rain. Rainfall in Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang and the East of Quang Ngai was generally 300-500mm, in some places over 750mm; Ha Tinh and Quang Tri 200-350mm, locally over 500mm.

Southern Nghe An and western Quang Ngai have moderate to heavy rain, some places have very heavy rain with rainfall of 70-150mm, locally over 250mm.

From noon and afternoon today (November 2), cold air will affect the Northeast region.

At sea, the tropical convergence zone is active, connecting with the low pressure area at about 12.5-13.5 degrees North latitude and 111.5-112.5 degrees East longitude. The Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast winds of level 5-6, gusts of level 7-8; from noon and afternoon the wind gradually increases to level 6, gusts of level 7-8, rough seas, waves 1.5-3m high. The sea area from South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai has northeast winds of level 5-6, gusts of level 7-8, waves 2-3m high. The North East Sea area, including the Hoang Sa sea area, has strong winds of level 7, gusts of level 8-9, waves 3-5m high, rough seas.

Localities are advised to proactively respond to heavy rains, be on guard against flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas. At sea, fishermen should closely monitor weather developments and limit going out to sea during strong winds and high waves to ensure safety of life and property.

Ho Chi Minh City is cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places. West to southwest winds at level 2-3.
