Weather forecast for January 21st: Northern Vietnam will experience intense cold, while Central Vietnam will have localized heavy rain.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, a cold front has affected some areas in the Northeast of Northern Vietnam. Today and tonight (January 21st), this cold front will continue to affect other areas in the Northeast, then extend to the North Central, Northwest, and Central regions of Vietnam.

On January 21st, both day and night, there will be scattered rain in Northern Vietnam, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An; from January 21st to 22nd, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang city and the eastern parts of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai will experience rain, showers, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms.

In the Northern region from January 21st to 23rd, the weather will be intensely cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold; the North Central region will also experience cold weather. The lowest temperatures during this cold spell in the Northern region will generally range from 11-14 degrees Celsius, 8-11 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas, and below 6 degrees Celsius in some high mountainous areas; in the North Central region, temperatures will generally range from 13-16 degrees Celsius.

Due to the influence of a cold front, on January 23rd, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang city, and the eastern parts of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai will experience rain, showers, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. High mountainous areas in the northern provinces should be wary of frost.

At sea: In the northern South China Sea (including the Hoang Sa Special Economic Zone), strong northeasterly winds of force 6, occasionally reaching force 7 in the east, with gusts of force 8-9, will cause waves 3-5 meters high and rough seas. In the Gulf of Tonkin, northeasterly winds will gradually strengthen to force 6, with gusts of force 7-8, and waves 2-3 meters high, causing rough seas. In the area from southern Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa and the central South China Sea, northeasterly winds will gradually strengthen to force 6, with gusts of force 7-8, and waves 2-5 meters high, causing rough seas.

From the afternoon of January 21st, in the sea area from Lam Dong to Ca Mau, and the western sea area of ​​the South China Sea (including the western sea area of ​​the Truong Sa special zone), the northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, with waves 3-5m high and rough seas.

Specific weather conditions in the Northwest region of Vietnam.

- Scattered rain, intensely cold weather, with some areas experiencing severe cold; high mountainous areas should be wary of frost.

- The lowest temperature will be 10-13 degrees Celsius, with some areas below 6 degrees Celsius; the highest temperature will be 15-18 degrees Celsius, with some areas in the Northwest region exceeding 20 degrees Celsius.

Northeast Vietnam

- Scattered rain. Northeast wind at level 2-3, level 3-4 in coastal areas; very cold weather, with some areas in the mountains experiencing severe cold, and frost risk in high mountainous areas.

- Lowest temperatures 11-14 degrees Celsius, 8-11 degrees Celsius in mountainous and hilly areas, and below 6 degrees Celsius in some high mountainous areas; highest temperatures 14-17 degrees Celsius.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue

- Cloudy, with scattered rain and showers; in the South, there will be localized moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms. Northwest to North winds at level 2-3; cold weather, especially in the North where it will be freezing.

- Lowest temperatures 14-17 degrees Celsius; highest temperatures 20-23 degrees Celsius in the North, 24-27 degrees Celsius in the South.

South Central Coastal Region

- In the North, there will be scattered rain and showers, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms; in the South, there will be light rain in a few places. Northeast winds will be at level 2-3, and it will be cold in the morning and at night.

- Lowest temperature 19-22 degrees Celsius; highest temperature 26-29 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 29 degrees Celsius.

Central Highlands

- Cloudy, sunny during the day, scattered showers at night. Cold in the morning and at night.

- Lowest temperature 13-16 degrees Celsius; highest temperature 25-28 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 28 degrees Celsius.

Southern Vietnam

- Sunny during the day; scattered showers in the evening and at night.

The lowest temperature will be 20-23 degrees Celsius, with some areas in the East experiencing temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius; the highest temperature will be 29-32 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi, the capital city

- Scattered rain. Northeast wind at level 2-3, very cold weather.

- The lowest temperature will be 12-14 degrees Celsius, and the highest will be 15-17 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh City

- Sunny day, no rain at night. Light wind.

- The lowest temperature will be 20-22 degrees Celsius, and the highest will be 30-32 degrees Celsius.
