Press release of the 9th Vietnam - Laos - China Con Throwing Festival, 2025

The Vietnam - Laos - China Con Throwing Festival is a special cultural festival, held annually by localities sharing the border of Vietnam, Laos and China in turn. This is a political and cultural event of special importance to strengthen solidarity, friendship, expand exchanges, cooperation and people-to-people diplomacy between border localities. It is an opportunity to promote the unique traditional cultural beauty of the ethnic groups of the three countries, introduce tourism potential, expand cooperation opportunities; contribute to building a peaceful , stable, friendly and cooperative border, sustainable development between Party committees, authorities and people in the border areas of Vietnam, Laos and China.

The 9th Vietnam - Laos - China Con Throwing Festival in 2025 will be hosted by Dien Bien province with the participation of delegations from Dien Bien province and Lai Chau province of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; delegations from Phongsaly province - Lao PDR, delegations from Giang Thanh district, Pu'er city - Yunnan province, People's Republic of China.

The festival has the theme "Solidarity, friendship - Border love - Development together" , taking place for 03 days (from December 19 to December 21, 2025) in Dien Bien Phu ward, Dien Bien province. The festival includes a series of rich cultural, sports and tourism activities, imbued with the traditional cultural identities of the ethnic groups and localities of the three countries:

1. Opening the Festival with a special art program, showing the beauty of the land, people, potential, strengths, spreading and honoring the good and sustainable solidarity and friendship between localities in particular, between Vietnam and Laos, China in general. The program was broadcast live on television channels, social networks of Dien Bien Newspaper and Radio and Television.

2. Cultural exchange program and national costume performance.

3. Space for displaying, introducing and promoting cultural and tourism products, and photo exhibitions.

4. Sports exchange and competition activities: Competition and exchange of experiences in 06 subjects including Cone Throwing, Stick Pushing, Crossbow Shooting, Top-up Fighting, Tug of War, Pickleball.

5. Tourism activities: Organize Famtrip program to survey tourism products and meet with travel service businesses of three countries.

6. Closing the Festival: Summarizing and closing the Festival, handing over the flag to host the 10th Festival; organizing campfires and dancing.

7. Some activities before and after the Festival:

- Mountain climbing competition to conquer Pu To Co peak "Explore Muong Thanh basin" and the 2025 Dien Bien province youth cross-country race "Let's go back to Muong Phang".

- Swallow-tailed boat racing festival in 2026 and the event "Solidarity dance on the Da Giang river".

- Cherry Blossom Festival - Muong Phang Commune 2026.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as the standing agency of the Organizing Committee of the 9th Vietnam - Laos - China Con Throwing Festival in 2025, respectfully requests media agencies, news agencies and newspapers to coordinate in promoting the Festival and its events.
