Previously, on February 2, 2026, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held its second consultative meeting to discuss, provide feedback, and compile a preliminary list of 217 candidates from central agencies, organizations, and units to run for the 16th National Assembly.

From February 4th to 8th, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at the commune level coordinated with the People's Committees at the same level (67 communes and wards in 17 provinces and cities where the candidates reside) to convene and preside over the process of gathering opinions from voters residing in their areas for 217 nominated candidates.
The meetings to gather opinions from voters residing in the area regarding candidates for the 16th National Assembly were conducted openly, seriously, democratically, in accordance with the law, procedures, and within the prescribed timeframe.
Details of the confidence vote results

100% of the delegates present unanimously agreed to compile a list of 217 individuals from central agencies and organizations who meet the qualifications to run for election as deputies to the 16th National Assembly.

The results of the voter confidence poll in the residential areas for candidates from central agencies, organizations, and units running for the 16th National Assembly are as follows:
For Party organizations: 10 out of 10 people received 100% voter confidence.
For the Office of the President : Both candidates received 100% of the vote.
For the National Assembly's agencies (full-time National Assembly deputies at the central level): 145 out of 145 people received 100% voter confidence.
For the Government and government agencies: 15 out of 15 individuals received 100% voter confidence.
Ministry of National Defence (including the minister, ministerial agencies, military regions, and branches): 14 out of 14 individuals received 100% voter confidence.
Ministry of Public Security: All 3 candidates received 100% voter confidence.
For the Supreme People's Court: 1/1 person receives 100% voter confidence.
For the Supreme People's Procuratorate: 1/1 person receives 100% voter confidence.
For the State Audit Office: 1/1 person receives 100% voter confidence.
For the Vietnam Fatherland Front: 25 out of 25 candidates received 100% voter confidence.
Based on the criteria for National Assembly representatives, the composition and number of people from central agencies, organizations, and units are allocated and nominated as follows:
152 out of 217 candidates were re-elected (70%); 48 out of 217 were women (22.12%); 5 out of 217 were non-Party members (2.3%); and 23 out of 217 were ethnic minorities (10.6%).
Professors and Associate Professors: 22/217 people (9.67%); PhDs: 78/217 people (35.94%); Master's degree holders: 89/217 people (41%); Bachelor's degree holders: 28/217 people (12.9%).
At the conference, 100% of the delegates unanimously agreed to compile a list of 217 individuals from central agencies and organizations who meet the qualifications to run for election as deputies to the 16th National Assembly, in accordance with the regulations of the Law on Election of Deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.
They must be worthy representatives of the people's trust.
In her closing remarks at the conference, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, emphasized that the Presidium had discussed and unanimously agreed to compile a list of 217 individuals from central agencies and organizations who meet the criteria to run for election as deputies to the 16th National Assembly in accordance with regulations.
Ms. Hoai requested the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to closely coordinate with relevant agencies of the National Assembly to carefully review the list of candidates to ensure accuracy and thoroughness in the information of candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
She hopes that candidates, especially those running for leadership positions, will prove themselves worthy of the people's trust and be nominated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front through consultation when they become National Assembly deputies.
Immediately after the conference, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will finalize the minutes and send the list of 217 qualified candidates for the National Assembly to the National Election Council and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly as prescribed, so that the National Election Council can announce the official list of candidates for each electoral unit nationwide.
Based on that, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at the provincial and commune levels will coordinate with the Election Councils of provinces and cities to organize voter outreach meetings so that candidates for National Assembly representatives can meet and interact with voters in their constituencies to exercise their right to campaign as stipulated in the Law on Election of National Assembly Representatives and People's Council Representatives.
