On the afternoon of January 14th, at the National Convention Center, immediately after the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Press Center of the 14th National Congress of the Party, an international press conference on the 14th National Congress of the Party was held. Member of the Politburo and Standing Secretary of the Central Committee Tran Cam Tu chaired the press conference.

Co-chairing the press conference were: Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang; Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Trinh Van Quyet; Central Committee Secretary, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Central Committee member, Standing Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Lai Xuan Mon; Central Committee member, Standing Deputy Chief of the Central Party Office Nguyen Thi Thu Ha; Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Department Nguyen Thanh Tam; Central Committee member, Standing Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh; and Deputy Head of the Central Inspection Committee Ha Quoc Tri.

Speaking at the press conference, Standing Committee member of the Party Central Committee Tran Cam Tu acknowledged and highly appreciated the dedication and responsibility of reporters from domestic and international news agencies in disseminating information and promoting the 14th Party Congress.

Regarding information about the 14th National Congress of the Party, Standing Committee member Tran Cam Tu stated that, with the motto "democracy, discipline, breakthrough, development," the 14th National Congress of the Party will officially take place in Hanoi from January 19-25, 2026. The theme of the Congress is "Under the glorious banner of the Party, working together to achieve the goals of national development by 2030, self-reliant, confident, and strong in the era of national progress, for peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, happiness, and steadily advancing towards Socialism."

The Congress was attended by 1,586 delegates representing over 5.6 million Party members. The 14th Congress will discuss and approve important documents: the Political Report of the 13th Central Committee at the 14th National Congress; the Report summarizing some theoretical and practical issues on the socialist-oriented reform process in Vietnam over the past 40 years; the Report summarizing 15 years of implementing the Party Charter (2011-2025) and proposing directions for supplementing and amending the Party Charter; and the Report reviewing the leadership and direction of the 13th Central Committee.

According to the Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee, under the decisive leadership of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Party Central Committee, and General Secretary To Lam, preparations for the Congress have been completed with a spirit of innovation. Regarding the preparation of the documents, a significant reform has been implemented, integrating three reports: the Political Report, the Socio-Economic Report, and the Report on Party Building into a single, unified, and synchronized Political Report.

Permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Tran Cam Tu stated that the preparation of personnel for the 14th Party Central Committee was carried out by the 13th Party Central Committee and the Personnel Subcommittee of the 14th Party Congress in accordance with Party regulations, the principle of democratic centralism, and legal provisions, ensuring "synchronization, scientific approach, systematic and rigorous work, democracy, objectivity, transparency, promoting democracy and intellect," and "a reasonable balance between standards and structure, between inheritance and stability, innovation and development."

The Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee emphasized that information and propaganda work regarding the 14th National Congress of the Party had been implemented early, with specific plans, in a spirit of openness, transparency, democracy, and objectivity, accurately reflecting the Party's determination and the aspirations of cadres, Party members, and the people. This created highlights and positive impressions, contributing to strengthening the confidence of cadres, Party members, and the people in the Congress; fostering unity within the Party and consensus in society. The Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee requested the Press Center of the 14th National Congress to provide the most favorable conditions in terms of infrastructure, technology, information, and operational coordination to enable domestic and international journalists to effectively carry out propaganda work, creating a strong ripple effect regarding the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

At the press conference, the presiding officials provided information and answered questions from domestic and foreign journalists on topics related to the 14th National Congress of the Party, such as: the political significance and outstanding importance, as well as fundamental new points in thinking, vision, and strategic orientation compared to previous Congresses; the core and important contents of the draft documents submitted to the 14th National Congress of the Party; the working regulations and personnel work of the Congress; and the working conditions for journalists at the 14th National Congress Press Center…

At the press conference, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang stated that the 14th National Congress of the Party is considered a political event of special significance, of historical importance, and marks a turning point in the country's development process. This event takes place amidst complex and unpredictable global changes, and also coincides with the country's tremendous achievements after 40 years of Doi Moi (Renovation), creating a solid foundation for the next phase.

This congress has many new features compared to previous congresses, from the drafting of the documents and their presentation to the organization and implementation of the plan right before the congress.

The first new point is the need for innovation in thinking, with a focus on breakthroughs in institutional reform to develop the country rapidly and sustainably. This time, it's not just about the economy, but also about culture, society, people, national defense, security, foreign relations, Party building, and so on.

The second new point, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized, is to remain steadfast and at the same time further promote rapid and sustainable development.

Previously, when discussing the requirements for rapid and sustainable national economic development, we identified socio-economic development as central, but did not fully highlight the role of the environment. This time, the document clearly emphasizes socio-economic development and the environment as three important pillars, while affirming the role of cultural identity and political stability. General Secretary To Lam has repeatedly requested that this content be prominently displayed in the document, especially regarding fundamental issues such as ensuring socio-political stability, macroeconomic stability, and environmental stability for development. Based on this, development should create stability, achieve breakthroughs, and resolutely strive to achieve the set goals, thereby continuously improving the lives and happiness of the people.

To achieve this, a very new and arguably recurring theme in the draft document is the establishment of a new growth model that adapts to major global transformations such as digital transformation, green transformation, energy transformation, and human resource transformation. This will leverage the country's potential and advantages, creating breakthroughs to build an economy that enhances productivity, quality, efficiency, and added value.

"A clear example is that in 2025, our country was determined to strive for an economic growth rate of over 8% and actually achieved the target with a growth rate of 8.02%," Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, the third new point is that for the first time, the document emphasizes that identifying national defense and security, along with foreign affairs and promoting integration, is crucial and ongoing. This stems from recognizing the extremely important role of foreign affairs. This is not solely the responsibility of the diplomatic sector but of the entire political system, aiming to combine the strength of the nation with the strength of the times. This is also a matter of combining domestic and international resources, adapting to exploit the conditions in the country's development as it has deeply integrated into the world and the region.

Along with that are many other new contents related to science and technology, innovation with breakthroughs; building a modern national education system, prioritizing quality and effective outcomes to adapt to new changes.

Furthermore, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang stated that the viewpoints and ideas in the draft document have been more thoroughly concretized through a system of solutions and policies to be implemented immediately before the Congress. This is a significant difference compared to previous terms.

"Previously, we all knew that the Resolution was only disseminated after the Congress, then ministries, departments, and localities developed action programs, followed by the formation of implementation solutions, which took a very long time. This time, we have integrated the Political Report, the Socio-Economic Report, the Party Building Report, and the implementation of the Party Charter into one Political Report, accompanied by a very specific Action Program to implement all the new contents from the Political Report, clearly defining responsibilities, agencies, units, tasks, resources, and timelines," Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized.
