People need to be careful, choose products with clear origin, declared according to regulations.
Mr. Ta Manh Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Drug Administration, Ministry of Health, said that these violating product batches must be recalled and destroyed nationwide.
Specifically, the batch of Y lang chi shampoo (100ml bottle, batch number: 011024:1, manufacturing date: October 1, 2024, expiry date: 2 years from manufacturing date) manufactured by Nam Do Joint Stock Company (HCMC) contains the active ingredient Permethrin - a member of the Pyrethroid family of drugs listed as essential drugs by the World Health Organization, classified as an insecticide, not classified as a cosmetic according to regulations. This product has an image of lice on the label, violating the regulations on cosmetic classification of the Ministry of Health and the ASEAN Cosmetic Harmonization Agreement.
The second batch of shampoo suspended from circulation and recalled is Newgi.C shampoo (100ml bottle, batch number: 010324, manufacturing date: March 3, 2024, expiry date: March 3, 2027) of Phuong Nam Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company ( Can Tho ), because it contains Permethrin 0.02%, with an image of lice and the introduction "supports cleaning lice", violating the regulations on cosmetic classification.
Previously, in 2022, these two shampoos were announced by the Drug Administration to be suspended from circulation and recalled nationwide because they did not meet quality requirements on microbial limits in cosmetics.
The recalled batch of hand sanitizer products is SA.AD strawberry essence hand sanitizer (SA.AD Liquid Hand Soap-Strawberry, 500ml bottle, batch number: 26PO 65/209E, Manufacturing date: September 20, 2024, Expiry date: September 19, 2027) brought to market by Goldpoint Group Joint Stock Company (Hanoi).
According to the Drug Administration, the test results showed that the product contained Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, and Propylparaben, but these substances were not declared in the published formula. This is a serious violation of regulations on cosmetic declaration.
The Drug Administration of Vietnam requests provincial and municipal health departments to notify and direct businesses to stop selling and using the above products, and to organize the recall, destruction and handling of violators.
Related manufacturing and trading companies must submit recall reports to the Department before the deadlines: August 7 (Goldpoint) and August 10 (Nam Do, Phuong Nam).
The Departments of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Hanoi are responsible for supervising the recall, destruction and comprehensive inspection of compliance with cosmetic management regulations at the above companies, reporting the results to the Department of Drug Administration before August 22-25, 2025.
The Drug Administration also recommends that people be careful, choose products with clear origins, properly declared and purchased at reputable addresses.
