The SYN112 pure rice variety trial yielded good results.

This spring, the demonstration model of the high-quality pure rice variety SYN112 in Lung Quy village, Khuc Thua Du commune (Hai Phong) is estimated to yield 71 quintals/hectare.

The Ninh Thanh Plant Cultivation and Protection Station, in collaboration with the People's Committee of Khuc Thua Du commune and Syngenta Vietnam Co., Ltd., organized a field conference to evaluate the SYN 112 pure rice variety model for the Spring 2026 crop in Lung Quy village.

The model was implemented on an area of ​​20,000 ^m² with the participation of 14 households, organized by Syngenta Vietnam Co., Ltd. in coordination with the Hai Phong Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, Ninh Thanh Crop Production and Plant Protection Station, and the local authorities.

Based on practical evaluation, the SYN112 rice variety grows and develops well, with strong and concentrated tillering, an average plant height of 102.9cm, and a growth period of approximately 120 days, which is 5-7 days shorter than many other varieties in the same season in the area. This is an important advantage that helps the rice plant reduce pressure from unfavorable weather conditions at the end of the season.

Despite prolonged heavy rains during the spring season, which affected flowering and fruiting, SYN112 still demonstrated relatively good resistance. The variety was not susceptible to blast or bacterial leaf blight, only mildly affected by some common pests and diseases such as brown spot, leaf roller, and stem borer, and notably, it did not fall over before the late-season thunderstorms.

The SYN112 rice variety is considered to have good rice quality with fragrant, soft, and delicious cooked rice, suitable for commercial production.

Productivity evaluation results show that SYN112 achieved 225.5 panicles/ ^m² , with a grain filling rate of up to 92%, and an estimated yield of 71 quintals/ha. With an average commercial rice price of approximately 10,000 VND/kg, the model yields an economic efficiency of approximately 4.118 million VND/ ^1,000m² after deducting production costs.

Based on the initial results, the relevant departments recommend further expanding the model to more locations and different production seasons in order to have a basis for comprehensive evaluation, leading to a proposal to include SYN112 in the city's rice variety structure in the near future.
