PVcomBank charges an account management fee of VND 10,000 if the average balance is less than VND 1 million/month.

Sacombank charges an account management fee of VND6,000/month if the average balance of the previous month is less than VND500,000. For Combo accounts - including payment accounts, payment cards, Alerts - automatic transaction notifications via Sacombank Pay, Sacombank Pay - this bank charges a fee of VND20,000/month if the average balance of the previous month is less than VND1 million.

BIDV applies a payment account management fee of VND5,000/month if the average balance is less than VND2 million and is free when the average balance is VND10 million or more. If the customer closes the account upon request, the fee will be VND50,000.

VPBank applies an account management fee of VND 10,000/month if the average balance is less than VND 2 million.

VietinBank charges a fee of VND 3,000/month for maintaining payment accounts that do not register for ebanking services.

Many other commercial banks such as TPBank, LPBank, Vietcombank also charge account management fees at different levels, and waive the fee when the average balance of the customer's account meets the requirements.

Besides the trend of waiving fees to attract customers to open accounts and make cashless payments, some banks still apply fixed fees.

For example, a payment account holder of a bank may have to pay monthly fees such as: account closure request fee, balance confirmation fee, statement/document copy fee, transfer fee within the system but to a different province/city where the account is opened, counting fee, order verification/cancellation fee, etc.

A commercial bank leader said that in order for customers to experience fast and safe e-banking services, banks must invest heavily in technology infrastructure, storage, security, applications (apps) and annual maintenance fees. Even for each customer's account (user), the bank must pay fees to the provider....

Many people expressed disagreement when banks charged management fees for accounts with small balances; while banks recommended that customers should go to the counter to close accounts that are no longer in use, to avoid incurring unwanted costs.
