Before the training session this afternoon (November 12), the Vietnamese team welcomed leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Physical Training and Sports to visit the training ground. Speaking to encourage the team, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong said that the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism always closely monitor the training process of coach Philippe Troussier and his team.
In the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, the Vietnamese team is in the same group as the Philippines, Iraq and Indonesia. Coach Troussier and his team will face the Philippines (November 16) and Iraq (November 21) in the first two matches. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism expects the Vietnamese team to have good results in the opening match to create psychological momentum for the second match, which is also the first match at My Dinh Stadium.

"We know that the whole team has gone through many international friendly matches abroad and achieved positive results. Tomorrow, we will leave for the Philippines to prepare for the opening match. The leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are very interested and hope that the Vietnamese team will have good results to set the stage for the match against Iraq at My Dinh Stadium. At that time, we will have the support of home fans.
We know that the Philippine team has prepared well. We hope and believe that after training, the Vietnamese team, the coach's guidance and the players' efforts will bring good results against the Philippines. We really hope that the whole team will have good results so that we can confidently compete against the Iraqi team at home," said Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong.
In response to the Deputy Minister, Coach Troussier thanked the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Sports and Physical Training for their encouragement. The French coach emphasized that the Vietnamese team trained with high concentration and was ready to face challenges, constantly striving for the progress of Vietnamese football and towards the goal of the World Cup.
"The whole team promises to try to play with focus and determination to achieve good results in the next two matches," said defender Que Ngoc Hai.
Today (November 12) is the last training day of the Vietnamese team in Hanoi . Coach Troussier and his team will leave for the Philippines tomorrow to prepare for the match on November 16. The Vietnamese team will say goodbye to some more players to reduce the list to 28 people.
