Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan and the delegation worked with the Phu Tho Department of Industry and Trade.

Essential goods prices increased by 130%, while overall prices remained stable.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Dang Viet Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Phu Tho province, stated that, in implementing the two-tiered government system, Phu Tho province was recently merged from the three provinces of Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc , and Phu Tho. Currently, the province has 29 supermarkets, 8 shopping centers, 381 markets, and a large-scale petroleum and gas business system: 3 petroleum wholesalers, 11 distributors, 599 gas stations, 4 petroleum depots (33,750 m3), and 17 gas trading businesses.

Mr. Dang Viet Phuong reports to the working group.

According to reports, the market for goods and services before the holidays was generally stable. At supermarkets, shopping malls, and large shopping destinations, sales volume sometimes doubled compared to normal days (an average increase of 130%), focusing on essential consumer goods such as rice, vermicelli, instant noodles, dried food, canned goods, sausages, fish sauce, salt, MSG, cooking oil, toilet paper, detergents, and fruits and vegetables.

Notably, while purchasing power increased, prices remained relatively stable, due to ongoing promotional programs and discounts to support consumers. At markets and grocery stores, demand surged for fresh food and essential goods, but reports indicate only slight increases in rice and instant noodle prices, while fresh meat, vegetables, and other essential consumer goods remained unchanged.

The working group visited the Go! supermarket in Viet Tri.

Regarding Tet holiday consumer trends, a report from the Phu Tho Department of Industry and Trade emphasizes that people are focusing on items with attractive designs, high quality, and reputable brands, given the abundant and diverse supply of Tet goods, with generally assured quality.

Regarding energy products for daily life, the supply of gasoline, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is basically guaranteed, and prices remain stable thanks to regulation by the State and key enterprises. There has been no hoarding, speculation, or illegal price increases; stores are operating normally and selling at the listed prices. Market inspection and supervision are maintained to ensure stability.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan inspected the fuel sales situation at the Hai Linh Tien Cat gas station, belonging to Hai Linh Co., Ltd.

To ensure the supply of goods during the Tet holiday, the Phu Tho Department of Industry and Trade has implemented the directives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Directive No. 18/CT-BCT dated November 25, 2025, on solutions to balance supply and demand and stabilize the market at the end of the year and during the Tet holiday of the Year of the Horse 2026.

Notably, 100% of communes and wards have implemented market stabilization measures, strengthened inspection and supervision; and encouraged business households to sign commitments not to participate in the consumption of smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, imitation goods, goods of unknown origin, substandard goods, or goods that do not meet food safety standards.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, 10 businesses committed to participating in price stabilization with a total amount exceeding 229 billion VND, focusing on 9 product groups: food; foodstuffs; cooking oil; sauces; MSG; milk; domestic spirits; beer; and soft drinks. Along with reserves at distributors and small businesses, the goal is to meet people's shopping needs and contribute to market stability.

Ensuring electricity supply during the peak Tet holiday season.

Regarding electricity supply, the Phu Tho Department of Industry and Trade stated that it has requested the Power Company and electricity retailers to develop plans for electricity supply during the Lunar New Year of 2026, emphasizing the requirement of "regular, continuous, and safe supply, ensuring no shortage of electricity in any situation," preparing personnel and materials to handle incidents quickly, and strengthening the dissemination of information on electrical safety and fire prevention.

The delegation worked with Phu Tho Power Company.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Vu Anh Phuong, Deputy General Director of the Northern Power Corporation, stated that, in implementing the Prime Minister's Directive and the Ministry of Industry and Trade's guidance, the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) has instructed its member units to implement the plan synchronously. The corporation currently manages 17 provinces, with a maximum load capacity of approximately 19,000 MW, and projected commercial electricity sales of 106 billion kWh by 2025.

Mr. Vu Anh Phuong reported to the working group.

To prepare for the Lunar New Year holiday, the units have developed plans to ensure electricity supply and safety, including fire prevention and control. During the holiday, grid-related work will be suspended to the maximum extent possible to prioritize ensuring safe and continuous power supply. The Corporation also arranged for approximately 13,000 personnel to be on duty 24/7 during the holiday; and increased the on-duty force at 100% of 110 kV substations to control risks.

Despite forecasts of low electricity demand during Tet (Lunar New Year), Mr. Vu Anh Phuong stated that operating the system presents a different challenge: strict adherence to dispatch orders and implementation of technical solutions to control voltage are necessary. Notably, he also pointed out common risks arising during Tet, such as violations of power grid corridors due to erecting New Year's poles, flying kites, and setting off fireworks, or localized overloading in residential areas when demand increases.

On behalf of Phu Tho Power Company, Mr. Dang Van Khanh, the company's director, stated that after the merger, the unit will have 2,089 employees. In 2025, electricity sales are projected to reach 10.99 billion kWh, an increase of 9.65% compared to 2024. The company considers the task of supplying electricity for daily life and cultural, political, and social events during Tet (Lunar New Year) as a particularly important political task, and has been preparing since the third quarter of 2025.

From October 2025, the company will conduct a comprehensive review of the power grid; address 115 existing issues, and swap capacity at 156 distribution substations to ensure electricity supply for households. However, Mr. Khanh also pointed out difficulties regarding violations of the power grid safety corridor, high residential load, and especially obstacles in land clearance for many power grid projects, which could affect the ability to supply electricity during peak seasons if not resolved promptly.

The most important requirement remains ensuring that people can celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) with peace of mind.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan emphasized that the report showed that the preparation of essential goods for the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse had been fully implemented by the Phu Tho Department of Industry and Trade in coordination with businesses, resulting in market stability.

“Preparations for 2025, especially before, during, and after the Lunar New Year, have been relatively fully implemented. This contributes to ensuring people's needs are met and maintaining market stability. I acknowledge and commend the efforts of the Department of Industry and Trade in particular and the province in general in managing the market over the past period. The results achieved have made a significant contribution to stability and created a foundation for local growth,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan delivered the concluding remarks.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan assessed that the emerging issues had been promptly handled by the localities. However, the Deputy Minister cautioned the functional forces not to be complacent when entering the post-Tet period, a time when travel, production, and business demand increase again, easily creating new pressure on supply and demand.

The Deputy Minister requested that localities continue to closely monitor supply and demand, maintaining smooth circulation and distribution, especially for essential consumer goods, electricity, and petroleum products. The highest priority is to prevent disruptions, ensuring people's livelihoods and market confidence throughout the holiday period and immediately upon the start of the new production season.

In the electricity sector, the emphasis is not only on sufficient supply but also on safe and reliable operation. Based on carefully prepared plans and identified risks, the Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the electricity sector will maintain the system, meet the people's service requirements during the Tet holiday, and create momentum for the entire year of 2026. According to the Deputy Minister, electricity is a sector directly related to the health, lives, and property of the people; therefore, all regulations must be strictly enforced, from technical management and operation to safety corridor control and public awareness campaigns.

Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Minister requested enhanced coordination between businesses, localities, and the Ministry in addressing bottlenecks, especially those related to investment and land clearance. Ensuring electricity supply for the North remains a challenge, but with collaboration and shared responsibility, the goal of meeting development and growth requirements in the coming period is entirely achievable.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the People's Committee of Phu Tho province, Ms. Phung Thi Kim Nga - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the province, thanked the leaders of the Ministry and the working group for taking the time to come and work, understand the situation, and promptly direct the resolution of difficulties in the commodity market, electricity supply, and petroleum supply.

She emphasized that the growth of the Industry and Trade sector plays a crucial role in the socio-economic growth of the province; a stable sector leads to a stable locality and enables breakthroughs towards the goals of the 2025-2030 term. The province affirmed that it will seriously consider the opinions of the working group; during the inspection process, if there are any further directives, relevant units are requested to incorporate them and advise the province on timely implementation.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, presented gifts to the units.
