(MPI) – April 09, 9, Deputy Minister Ministry of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc chaired the Press Conference to announce the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the National Innovation Center (NIC) and the Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 to announce and share content related to the national event, marking a great step forward for Vietnam in its determination and efforts to develop the innovation ecosystem.

Attending the Press Conference were representatives of state management agencies, enterprises, research institutes, universities, experts, scientists; domestic and international partners and representatives of press agencies.
NIC was established on October 02, 10 under Decision No. 2019/QD-TTg of Prime minister Goverment with the function of supporting and developing the Vietnamese innovation ecosystem, contributing to the innovation of growth models based on science and technology development.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, the establishment of NIC demonstrates the Government's strong determination to make innovation one of the growth drivers of Vietnam in the new era. After 05 years of operation, the Center has gradually affirmed its role as a national focal point for innovation, a leading unit connecting a complete innovation ecosystem for Vietnam.
The results of the Center are reflected in many aspects such as: completing the infrastructure of operating facilities; building mechanisms and preferential policies for innovation; developing the Vietnamese innovation ecosystem with full participation of all stakeholders; supporting businesses to access resources; participating in developing high-quality human resources in Vietnam.
According to information at the Press Conference, on October 2-01, 02, the Ministry of Planning and Investment chaired and assigned NIC to organize the 10th Anniversary of the Center and the Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 (Innovate Viet Nam 5). This is an event connecting and gathering the subjects of the Vietnamese innovation ecosystem to recognize the achievements over the past 2024 years and honor the contributions of the subjects to the development of the ecosystem, in which NIC plays a leading role.
“NIC’s five-year development process has been a truly challenging and proud journey. From the Ministry of Planning and Investment, we hope that the NIC’s fifth anniversary will also be an opportunity for us to continue to strongly spread the aspiration and determination for innovation to the business community and people, thereby arousing the creative potential, the will and aspiration for innovation to help Vietnam make a breakthrough, achieving the goal of rapid and sustainable development in the coming period,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc shared.

Presenting and introducing the general information about the event program, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of NIC, Ministry of Planning and Investment said that the event will be a place to connect, meet, and look back on the 5-year journey of formation and development, highlighting the mark of "Aspiration - Pioneer - Breakthrough" with the goal of summarizing the 5-year process of formation and development of NIC and 1 year of inauguration of NIC Hoa Lac; recognizing the achievements; honoring and rewarding the contributions of partners, organizations and individuals in promoting innovation in Vietnam. Affirming the role and position of the Center as the focal point for developing the national innovation ecosystem, contributing to attracting and promoting opportunities for cooperation, business investment, especially international resources for investment and support for the fields of science, technology, and innovation for Vietnam.
At the same time, strengthen the connection between domestic and international enterprises and technology corporations, organize in the form of a festival to meet, exchange, discuss and introduce the latest technological solutions and innovative products in the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductors and green transformation. Spread to the domestic community and international partners about the aspiration for innovation, determination and strong commitment of the Government in promoting innovation. Thereby, affirming the potential and advantages of Vietnam to become a regional innovation center; as well as suggesting, developing the vision and orientation for the Center in the coming period to continue to carry out the mission of developing the Vietnamese innovation ecosystem.
Held on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Center's establishment, Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 is a place to connect, meet, and look back on the 5-year journey of formation and development, highlighting the mark of "Aspiration - Pioneer - Breakthrough".
Within the framework of the event, there will be main activities such as the Innovative Technology Exhibition and Experience Area: displaying breakthrough products, services, and technologies focusing on the fields of AI, Semiconductors, and green energy (batteries, electricity, electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles). The Exhibition and Experience Area is expected to attract 100 booths.
The conference and forum with the participation of prestigious speakers at home and abroad, sharing the latest technology trends, especially AI and semiconductor technology, thereby drawing valuable lessons, while creating opportunities for startups, businesses and investors to meet, cooperate and connect. Notably, the workshop "Businesses and young generations in the face of the AI, semiconductor wave: Opportunities and Challenges" on the afternoon of October 01 will have the participation and contributions of the Chairman of Global Relations of Meta Group, Nick Clegg and the Leaders of Qualcomm, NVIDIA, ...
Honoring ceremony: honoring individuals and organizations with outstanding contributions to the development of the innovation ecosystem, including the Vietnam Innovation Challenge 2024 Award Ceremony.
Performing arts activities: Within the framework of the event, the Better Choice Awards Gala to honor innovative values applied in practice will take place with a scale of nearly 5.000 live attendees with many unique contemporary art performances, combined with a technology stage to bring impressive experiences to the audience.

At the Press Conference, NIC officially launched the Vietnam Innovation Network Platform - a "knowledge platform" connecting leading experts with startups and businesses. This platform acts as a bridge, helping Vietnamese talents across the country. world interact, create new ideas and jointly realize ideas into high-value products and services, contributing to the country's economic growth.
One of the highlights of Innovate Vietnam 2024 is the Better Choice Awards (BCA). Following the success from last year, BCA has returned with this year's award categories having many changes compared to last year, being more diverse and increasingly "standard" to the needs of consumers. The award began opening the voting portal right after the press conference. This is also an impressive conclusion to the event through the combination of advanced technology in the award ceremonies and performances. music, providing a unique experience.
At the Press Conference, partners such as META and VCCORP highly appreciated the Ministry of Planning and Investment for assigning NIC to organize a very meaningful event with many practical activities; affirmed their commitment to make efforts and accompany NIC to successfully organize the event to spread the spirit of innovation and creativity.
Mr. Rafael Frankel, Director of Public Policy for South Asia and Southeast Asia, META Group, said that META and the Ministry of Planning and Investment through NIC have had a great cooperation; the achievements of NIC in the past 5 years have contributed significantly to promoting innovation, digital economic growth, putting Vietnam on the map of dynamic and innovative digital countries in the region; at the same time, he affirmed that this is a time of special significance in the strategic partnership between NIC and META.
On this occasion, Mr. Rafael Frankel thanked the Ministry of Planning and Investment and other ministries and sectors of Vietnam; expressed his hope that in the coming time, NIC and META will continue to closely coordinate to bring about many innovative initiatives, attracting high-quality solutions.
At the Press Conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc also answered questions raised by journalists; at the same time, emphasizing that innovation is the core of science, technology and engineering. These factors determine labor productivity, thereby determining the competitiveness of the economy and enterprises. In particular, NIC has the mission of being the locomotive to promote innovation and advanced technology in Vietnam with the goal of creating favorable conditions for enterprises, researchers, domestic and international organizations to access opportunities and resources; becoming a platform connecting creative ideas, thereby innovating the growth model based on science, technology and innovation.
Regarding solutions to attract Vietnamese enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises in innovation, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc emphasized that currently, innovation activities are taking place vigorously around the world, bringing opportunities but also facing many challenges. Therefore, to promote enterprises to seize opportunities, state management agencies must build and perfect institutions, perfect legal documents to encourage enterprises in innovation; provide infrastructure and information; monitor, inspect, supervise, reward factors that bring positive results and punish violators.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, in the context of many changes, especially global and regional issues, global minimum tax policies, Vietnam needs to continue to have synchronous and comprehensive solutions to support businesses, including FDI enterprises, such as improving the investment and business environment. Accordingly, it is necessary to continue to improve, create a favorable, equal, transparent environment, strictly enforce intellectual property laws; have special investment incentive policies; have stable, consistent, long-term policy commitments on innovation, promote green growth and sustainable development.
Along with that, develop infrastructure and technological environment, further promote cooperation between enterprises and institutes, research agencies; have specific policies to attract international talents, create favorable conditions for experts to work in Vietnam; develop an innovation ecosystem, encourage public-private cooperation; continue to enhance Vietnam's position as an attractive investment destination in general, including science, technology and innovation./.
