That next vote is not due until October 2025, and recent polls suggest Mr Trudeau's Liberals will be crushed by the centre-right Conservatives. Pollsters say voters are feeling "fed up" with Mr Trudeau, who took office in November 2015.

In an interview with French-language broadcaster Radio-Canada, when asked if he was thinking about quitting, Trudeau laughed and replied: “I think about quitting every day. It’s a crazy job that I’m doing, having to make personal sacrifices.”
"Of course it's incredibly difficult, it's incredibly unsatisfying at times. ... The path we're on is so precarious, democracies are under such attack all over the world ," Trudeau continued.
The Conservatives say they will scrap the Liberal-imposed carbon tax, tackle the government 's budget deficit, tackle the housing crisis and crack down on crime.
The carbon tax is scheduled to increase again on April 1, and Trudeau reiterated that the government will not heed calls from some provincial premiers to suspend the increase.
“I entered politics not for fame, not for personal reasons, but because I wanted to serve and I knew I had something to contribute,” he said.
Last year, Trudeau and his wife Sophie announced they were separating after 18 years of marriage.
