Prime Minister attends opening ceremony at special school in the capital

Along with students from all over the country, nearly 1,600 students from Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School attended the opening ceremony this morning. Established in 1982, this is the only school in Hanoi that integrates non-disabled students with visually impaired students. It is prestigious, experienced, and successful in specialeducation for visually impaired children and integrating non-disabled students with visually impaired children. Visually impaired students account for about 10% of the school's total student population.

With two levels of education including primary and secondary, in recent years, the school has been a bright spot in the educational movement of the capital and the whole country in terms of inclusive education for disabled students in general and visually impaired students in particular. The school has also made important contributions in supporting provinces and cities (Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc...) in inclusive education.

At the opening ceremony, delegates, teachers and students listened to a letter from General Secretary and President To Lam to the education sector on the occasion of the new school year.

Education is the top national policy and an important task of the entire Party and people.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed that when the whole country is jubilantly celebrating National Day (September 2) - the day beloved President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, it is also the time when students across the country are bustling to enter the new school year.

According to the Prime Minister, in the joyful and excited atmosphere of the whole country and the opening day of the school year of beloved students, the delegates were very happy and moved to attend the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School, with the mission of educating visually impaired children of Hanoi so that they can integrate into the community, live independently, and contribute to society with the core values of humanity, responsibility, creativity, integration and development.

"In particular, we feel and appreciate the warmth, love and kindness of teachers, parents and beloved students. Seeing the joyful smiles on the bright faces of the children, I clearly feel the excitement and determination for a new school year that is about to begin" - said the Prime Minister.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh cordially sends to the distinguished delegates, teachers and students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu School in particular and all teachers and students across the country in general, my respectful greetings, warm regards and best wishes; wishing the 2024-2025 school year to achieve better results than the previous school year.

The Prime Minister recalled that during his lifetime, beloved President Ho Chi Minh, the national liberation hero and world cultural celebrity of Vietnam, advised: "For the benefit of ten years, plant trees. For the benefit of a hundred years, cultivate people"; "An ignorant nation is a weak nation".

Always remembering and engrave his advice, over the years, our Party and State have always considered education and training as the top national policy, an important task of the entire Party and people, a particularly important and key field in ensuring progress and social justice, decisive to the sustainable development of the country, with the spirit of leaving no one behind.

The fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training is being focused on, increasingly meeting the requirements of industrialization, modernization, and international integration, in the context of the fourth industrial revolution having a profound impact on all areas of social life.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, looking back at the 2023-2024 school year, we are pleased to see that the education sector has overcome difficulties and challenges, effectively implemented assigned tasks and achieved very important achievements, especially the quality of education has been gradually improved, students, including those with disabilities, have been better cared for and educated.

Attending the meaningful opening ceremony of the new school year at the special school, honored to be named after a patriotic, benevolent poet and world cultural celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu, the Prime Minister was pleased to know that, in nearly 42 years of formation and development, generations of teachers and students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School have always strived to achieve the goal of "High-quality school - Leading efficiency in inclusive teaching and learning nationwide".

The Prime Minister commented that the school has been implementing well the inclusive education model for blind students from grades 1 to 9 - the most important stage, creating a foundation for both physical and intellectual development. Blind students are prepared with the necessary and basic skills for the development of their personal talents... helping them to confidently and equally participate in learning activities and integrate into the community.

In particular, the Prime Minister was impressed with the outstanding achievements of the school's blind students, such as Dao Thu Huong, valedictorian of the University of Foreign Languages; Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, who completed her doctoral studies in the United States; La Minh Truong, an example of an advanced youth following Uncle Ho's teachings; Ly Thanh Anh Kiet, who is only a 5th grader but is already a freshman in the Piano Department of the National Academy of Music; and many other examples of overcoming difficulties and studying well.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh warmly congratulated the school, teachers, parents, especially the visually impaired students - shining examples of efforts, striving, overcoming difficulties, hardships and adversities, achieving very proud achievements, constantly bringing glory to the school named after the famous person Nguyen Dinh Chieu.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged, appreciated and congratulated the entire education sector on its efforts, attempts and important results achieved in the past school year, making important contributions to the country's overall achievements.

People are the most valuable resource

The Prime Minister stated that in the new school year 2024-2025, to further promote the achieved results, make efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges, the education sector in particular and the whole country in general need to continue to synchronously and effectively implement tasks and solutions for fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training with the motto "Taking students as the center and subject - Teachers as the driving force - Schools as the support - Families as the fulcrum - Society as the foundation".

With that spirit, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Education and Training, ministries, branches and localities to continue to create fundamental factors for the development of education and training, create an advanced and healthy environment in terms of law, culture, ethics and knowledge, promote a learning society, especially favorable conditions for students with disabilities and those in difficult circumstances, in which some issues must be noted.

Accordingly, thoroughly grasp and effectively implement Conclusion 91-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate education and training; focus on implementing well the directions and tasks set for the 2024-2025 school year, especially the letter of General Secretary and President To Lam on the occasion of the opening of the new school year.

The Prime Minister also hopes that generations of teachers and students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School will continue to strive to achieve the goal of "High-quality school - Leading efficiency in inclusive education nationwide". Parents are always a comprehensive support, a spiritual and material support, sharing joys and sorrows, understanding the difficulties and challenges of their children.

The Prime Minister also requested that schools perform well their role as a solid foundation, creating all favorable conditions in terms of facilities, technology, equipment, learning conditions, a secure, safe, healthy, equal and favorable environment for students. For students with disabilities, it is necessary to ensure that they are equipped with all necessary skills and knowledge so that they can be independent in life and confidently integrate into the community.

At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to and develop the school's teaching staff to meet the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training so that teachers can truly be role models of morality, self-study and creativity for generations of students to follow.

The Prime Minister hopes that teachers not only impart knowledge but also be exemplary in training, encouraging, motivating, guiding, sharing, motivating and inspiring students; discovering, encouraging and creating conditions for each student to develop their strengths and talents; imparting knowledge so that students are enthusiastic about learning and innovating; not only learning through books but also focusing on practice; not only imparting knowledge and skills but also strongly arousing patriotism, solidarity, self-reliance and the desire to develop a rich, prosperous and happy country.

The Prime Minister recalled that during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh once said: "The mission of a teacher is very glorious, because without teachers there is no education, without education there is no economy or culture". The Prime Minister asked each teacher at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School to continue to strive to overcome difficulties and challenges, always share, sympathize, understand and be a guiding light for students, especially visually impaired students, on the path to accessing the open world of human knowledge.

Students across the country should promote their central role, the main subject, and the future owners of the country. You should try to be good children, good students, good children of Uncle Ho, and do well the 5 things Uncle Ho taught: Love the Fatherland, love the people/ Study well, work well/ Unite well, have good discipline/ Maintain good hygiene/ Be modest, honest, and brave.

To the students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School, the Prime Minister stated that they always have the attention of society, the affection of their families, the kindness of the school, and the dedicated teaching of their teachers. The Prime Minister hopes that the students, especially those in difficult circumstances, will always try to overcome challenges and disadvantages, constantly study hard, acquire knowledge, be proactive and actively practice "Virtue - Intelligence - Fitness - Beauty"; always nurture the will to rise up, ambitions, dreams, aspirations to contribute, to become good citizens, useful to society and the country.

"We believe that every day of studying and playing under the roof of our beloved socialist school, you will continue to acquire a lot of useful and interesting knowledge and have many beautiful memories with the school. We hope that all students, especially students with disabilities, will always strive to study well, practice well, achieve even higher achievements in the journey of conquering knowledge, perfecting moral qualities, becoming good citizens who are responsible for the country, have a solid capacity to develop the beautiful country, bring the Vietnamese people to the stage of glory to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as beloved Uncle Ho wished" - said the Prime Minister.
