Prime Minister attends key activities at the Autumn Economic Forum

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of November 26, the Autumn Economic Forum 2025 officially opened in Ho Chi Minh City. The forum was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, leaders of ministries, branches, localities, about 30 diplomatic missions of countries in Vietnam, representatives of national leaders, along with experts, scientists and more than 500 domestic enterprises in the fields of science, high technology, and innovation.

On the international side, the Forum attracted 70 delegations from innovation centers and large corporations, 6 delegations from international ministries and branches (Australia, China, Kuwait, Malaysia...), 8 delegations from international localities, 7 delegations from major international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Asian Development Bank (ADB), 10 global centers of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR)...

In particular, on November 26, Mr. Stephan Mergenthaler, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum (WEF), together with leaders of WEF departments and centers, will directly attend and co-organize activities from the Plenary Session, Parallel Discussion Session on Smart Manufacturing, Lunch and Working Session with Government Leaders, High-level Policy Dialogue Session with the Prime Minister of Vietnam.

WEF's deep participation and companionship at this Forum demonstrates its interest and commitment to promoting strategic cooperation between WEF and Vietnam in general, as well as with Ho Chi Minh City in particular, in the coming time.

In the morning, the plenary session began with speeches from the Prime Minister of Vietnam, leaders of the City, and leaders of ministries and branches of other countries. The goal of the Plenary Session is to clarify the action strategy of "dual transformation", with the focus on putting people at the center in the context of rapid development of science and technology, while analyzing new industrial trends, the role of AI, automation and green technology in improving productivity and restructuring the value chain.

The Plenary Session also raised the need to clarify the global prospects of the smart economic model, pointing out the benefits that need to be grasped and the risks that Vietnam needs to prepare for, thereby proposing ways to build a smart, transparent and sustainable super urban model for the country.

To delve into the core issues in the dual transformation process of Vietnam and the region towards a smart economy, the Forum continued with three parallel thematic discussion sessions. Session 1 (co-organized with WEF) focused on "Smart manufacturing and global supply chains". Session 2 explored the theme "Logistics and smart seaports associated with the dual transformation goal". Session 3 focused on "Smart government in the digital age".

After the morning discussion sessions, high-level delegates attended lunch and worked with the Government Leaders and representatives, discussing the topic "Cooperation for green goals in the digital age towards a smart economy".

The afternoon program was the highlight of the event, with the highlight being the High-Level Policy Dialogue between the Prime Minister of Vietnam and the Leaders of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The Dialogue opened with a Dialogue with leaders of central ministries and branches, followed by the High-Level Policy Dialogue between the Prime Minister of Vietnam and the Leaders of the WEF, taking place with the theme: "Science and technology shaping Vietnam in the era of development".

The overall working sessions not only clarified the topic of "Green transformation in the digital age", but also created a comprehensive strategic framework, from thinking, policies to implementation models so that Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam can confidently enter the 2026-2030 development period with a new foundation: A greener, more digital and smarter economy.

In particular, the Joint Statement between Ho Chi Minh City and WEF is an important milestone affirming the position of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam as a "co-creation" partner in global initiatives led by WEF, reflecting the new position of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in the international cooperation network. On the other hand, through this milestone, Ho Chi Minh City enters the global production innovation network with a proactive role, contributing to shaping advanced industrial models serving the country's green and sustainable development in the new period.

In addition, with nearly 15 cooperation agreements signed right at the Forum between domestic and foreign enterprises and organizations in green and digital fields such as energy, logistics, artificial intelligence, finance, etc., as well as a series of sideline meetings, bilateral and multilateral meetings at all levels, the Forum affirmed its key role and significance in turning ideas into practical solutions. Through the Forum, the bridge between enterprises and the government, between domestic and international resources is tightened, creating opportunities for parties to exchange, cooperate, and jointly seek solutions for synchronous development between the green economy and the digital economy.

The forum also affirmed the strong commitment of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in providing the best support and creating a favorable environment for businesses, investors, scientists and international organizations in the process of applying science and technology, innovation, demonstrating the vision and aspiration to become a leading innovation center in Southeast Asia, a green, smart and livable megacity, contributing positively to the overall development of the country and the region.
