Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just sent a congratulatory letter on the 80th anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector (1945-2025). In the letter, the Prime Minister sent his warm regards, deep gratitude and best wishes to all generations of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the sector.
The Prime Minister wrote: "Eight decades of accompanying the nation is a journey of will and aspiration, a symbol of intelligence and mettle, a milestone marking the strong transformation of Vietnam's agricultural sector.
In every period, agriculture has always been resilient, standing firm in the face of all difficulties and challenges, being the "fulcrum" of political stability, the pillar of the economy, the livelihood foundation of millions of farming households, and the important "key" to ensuring national and world food security.
From a country with a low starting point and hunger, agriculture has contributed to helping Vietnam escape poverty, complete the United Nations' Millennium Goals and become a powerhouse in agricultural exports with an increasingly enhanced position and reputation on the world map.
By restructuring the industry, promoting research, application of science and technology, and digital transformation, we are witnessing the daily changes of Vietnamese agriculture, from "digital fields" and high technology, to an increasingly civilized and modern rural appearance and the increasingly developed, prosperous and happy lives of farmers.
Along with agriculture, natural resources and environment are also the fundamental sectors that lead to green growth and the rapid and sustainable development of the country. There cannot be a prosperous agriculture if natural resources are threatened and destroyed.
In the process of production development, our approach to resource and environmental management has changed profoundly from the mindset of "maximum exploitation" to "natural capital management", from "management" to "governance and regeneration" based on advances in science and technology, from "environmental protection" to "environmental economics".
Every inch of land, river, forest, sky, seaport... is a precious asset of the nation, must be preserved, regenerated, used reasonably, effectively, and adapted to climate change, for the goal of common, sustainable development.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister commended and sincerely thanked the great contributions, dedication and persistent efforts of generations of leaders, cadres, civil servants, scientists, organizations and individuals who have been associated with the agricultural and environmental sectors.
Entering a new era of development, the Prime Minister hopes and believes that the agricultural and environmental sectors will continue to promote their glorious traditions, light the fire of innovation with the power of science, technology, digital transformation, join hands and unite to create prosperous agriculture, knowledgeable farmers, modern countryside, and a sustainable environment - contributing to realizing the goal of developing a rich, prosperous, civilized and happy country.
