Speaking with doctors and medical staff, the Prime Minister inquired about the emergency situation during the Tet holiday; he encouraged doctors and medical staff to make every effort to take advantage of the critical time, "treat patients first - procedures later," and absolutely not cause any inconvenience to patients.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, being on duty during Tet (Lunar New Year) is a "battle-ready" task, requiring no complacency and ensuring no passive response in any situation. The hospital adheres to the "three guarantees": ensuring sufficient medication, blood, intravenous fluids, supplies, and equipment; ensuring uninterrupted 24/7 emergency, resuscitation, and surgical services; and ensuring hospital security and patient safety. The hospital maintains a four-level duty roster: Leadership – Professionals – Nursing – Logistics/Security, ensuring smooth command from the Board of Directors to each clinical and logistical position.

The hospital is currently treating 1,200 inpatients. The hospital has reviewed all clinical departments, carefully assessed each case, and discharged stable patients early according to medical standards to free up beds and focus resources on emergency care and critical cases during the Tet holiday.

The hospital adheres to the "three no's" principle: No refusal of emergency care; No passing patients on to others; and No systemic errors due to negligence, while being prepared for scenarios involving sudden surges in cases, disasters, and epidemics.

The hospital maintains a state of readiness with interdepartmental red alerts for multiple trauma situations and mass casualties; proactively deploying personnel according to the actual situation. At the same time, it maintains a high level of vigilance against the risk of disease outbreaks, increasing surveillance and patient flow management; especially closely monitoring epidemiological warnings as directed by the Ministry of Health , including the risk from the Nipah virus. The hospital organized the provision of 3,600 free meals, three meals a day, for patients and one family member, and medical staff during the three days of Tet (January 29, February 1, and February 2), with a total cost of nearly 800 million VND.

Speaking with officials and doctors at Bach Mai Hospital, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at seeing that Bach Mai Hospital has inherited its professional traditions and is becoming stronger with "5 improvements": cleaner; better medical equipment; more scientific organization; more enthusiastic patients; free meals for patients; and the momentum and strength of Bach Mai Hospital are growing stronger.

Stating that, along with leading hospitals, Bach Mai Hospital is "the last resort for treating patients," the Prime Minister emphasized that patients' habit when they are sick is to think of Bach Mai Hospital, which is also the hospital's brand – a place where patients place their complete trust and hope for their health.

The Prime Minister raised concerns about increased patient visits and medical treatments, as well as an increase in serious illnesses.

Acknowledging, commending, and highly appreciating the achievements of the health sector in general and Bach Mai Hospital in particular in caring for and protecting the health and lives of the people in the past period, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Bach Mai Hospital to effectively implement Resolution 72 of the Politburo on some breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health; and to organize the implementation of the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party, focusing on improving the capacity for medical examination and treatment, controlling epidemics, and mastering advanced medical technology.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to upgrade facilities and re-plan hospitals to be clean, beautiful, and spacious. He particularly stressed that Bach Mai Hospital, being the final referral level, requires investment in modern equipment, but this must be done in a transparent and open manner, without corruption or negative practices. Along with this, he stressed the importance of digitalization and greening of hospitals; and improving the quality of staff and the professional skills of doctors and medical staff with the spirit of "profound medical theory, excellent medical skills, and rich medical ethics."

Suggesting that Bach Mai Hospital implement the "three no's": no inconvenience to patients, no disappointment to patients, and no missed opportunity to save patients, no matter how small; the Prime Minister agreed in principle to Bach Mai Hospital's proposals regarding investment in infrastructure development; and requested that the upgrading of Bach Mai Medical College into Bach Mai University of Medicine and Pharmacy be completed in the first quarter of 2026.

Earlier that morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and extended New Year greetings to the staff, doctors, nurses, and patients, and inspected the patient care services at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Duc Hung, Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, said that the current number of inpatients at the hospital is 500. To minimize the overload of trauma patients requiring long-term treatment at the hospital during the Lunar New Year holiday of 2026, the hospital has added an operating room A (1st floor - Building B6) to perform emergency surgery on trauma patients such as: closed fractures of the upper and lower limbs, open fractures grade I, spinal injuries, maxillofacial injuries, allowing for immediate surgery without making patients wait.

The hospital always ensures a sufficient supply of medical equipment, medicines, and chemicals to serve emergency patient care during the Lunar New Year holiday. It also proactively maintains a full stock of essential medicines, emergency medications, medications for common illnesses during the holiday, and intravenous fluids. Furthermore, it arranges for staff and pharmacists to be on duty during the holiday according to regulations, ensuring 24/7 availability to dispense medicines and medical supplies and provide professional support when needed.

During a conversation with officials and doctors at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed and extended New Year greetings to the hospital's staff. The Prime Minister praised the hospital for its preparations and ensured the availability of medicines, blood, and other supplies during the Lunar New Year holiday.

The Prime Minister stated that hospitals should focus on purchasing modern equipment to support effective treatment while avoiding corruption, waste, and negative practices. Regarding nutrition for surgical patients, he requested that the hospital allocate regular funds to provide meals for patients and their families during the three days of Tet (Lunar New Year).

The Prime Minister stated that Viet Duc Hospital is a central, tertiary-level hospital with abundant human resources, therefore it is necessary to supplement other hospitals when needed. During the Tet holiday, arrangements should be made to ensure the availability of electricity, water, and sanitation services.
