On the morning of December 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived at Wattay International Airport, Vientiane Capital, to begin a working trip to Laos to attend the High-level Meeting between the two Parties and co-chair the 48th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at the airport were Minister, Head of the Prime Minister's Office Bouakhong Nammavong; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs , Vientiane Capital City Leader, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh; Chief of Office of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee Viengsan Chantha; leaders of departments under the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the Vietnamese side were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong; Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam; representatives of Vietnamese representative agencies in Laos, officials and staff of the Embassy, and the Vietnamese community in Laos.

During the working trip, along with attending the High-level Meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Prime Minister will co-chair the 48th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee with the Lao Prime Minister; and will also have bilateral activities with Laos such as meeting with Lao high-ranking leaders and co-chairing the Vietnam-Laos Economic Forum.

At the 48th meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee, the two delegations will review and evaluate the implementation of agreements in the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Plan for the 2021 - 2025 period and 2025; at the same time, discuss and agree on cooperation directions and tasks for the 2026 - 2030 period and 2026, in order to concretize the Conclusion of the High-level Meeting between the two Parties.

The Prime Minister's working trip to Laos took place in the context of the political relationship and strategic trust between Vietnam and Laos continuing to be consolidated and tightened, affirming the core role and overall orientation in the relationship between the two countries.

On the basis of inheriting and promoting the tradition of special solidarity, the two sides agreed to deepen bilateral relations by adding new connotations: "Great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic cohesion". This is an affirmation of the common vision, intertwined strategic interests and long-term companionship for the goal of sustainable development, self-reliance and common prosperity of the two peoples.

The two sides promoted existing cooperation mechanisms, especially through meetings and exchanges between the two General Secretaries and senior Party and State leaders of the two countries; at the same time, reviewed and adjusted cooperation mechanisms in accordance with the realities of both sides; the two sides also focused on exchanging views on strategic issues, guidelines and policies related to security and development.

The two sides successfully coordinated to organize many important foreign affairs activities between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two States. The high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two countries exchanged many in-depth, comprehensive and substantive contents on core issues, many key cooperation contents and projects were resolved, creating momentum to promote strong development of cooperation and deepen the close relationship between the two Parties and the two countries.

Defense, security and foreign affairs cooperation continues to have new developments, going into depth and effectiveness, being a pillar in the Vietnam - Laos relationship. Economic, cultural, educational and scientific - technological cooperation has positive changes. Cooperation between departments, ministries, branches, committees of the National Assembly, the Front, mass organizations, people's organizations and localities of the two countries continues to be promoted and become more substantial...

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to Laos this time contributes to promoting the development of relations with Laos, demonstrating the determination of the two governments in immediately implementing high-level agreements in upgrading Vietnam - Laos relations to a new level: "Great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic connection".
