The 3-2 victory for MU not only brought pride but also helped Michael Carrick's team solidify their third-place position, leaving their rivals far behind in the race for a Champions League spot. The 12-point gap officially marks MU's return to Europe's top competition after a two-season absence.
Meanwhile, Liverpool remain insecure in the race for the Top 5. This defeat puts them at risk of being overtaken by Bournemouth, who are currently in sixth place. After the match, manager Arne Slot spoke about the result at Old Trafford.
"We couldn't control their strengths. We were aware of many weapons in their lineup but couldn't stop them. Among them were set pieces and counter-attacks. The first goal we conceded was from a set piece and for the second, we shouldn't have lost possession like that," the Liverpool manager commented.

"They have a lot of quick players and of course Bruno Fernandes can be dangerous on the counter-attack. That's exactly what happened with the second goal. We equalized but, as usual, we lost focus for a moment and conceded the third."
What disappointed me the most? We had a lot of possession but couldn't make a difference. One of their strengths is their deep defense and counter-attacks. But on the counter-attacks, we couldn't cope.
The lack of concentration kept happening again and again. I didn't expect us to lose the game after it was 2-2. But if you look at the whole season, perhaps many people won't be surprised. Usually, when the score is 2-2, people expect the other team to score. Unfortunately, once again, just one moment of lapse in concentration punished Liverpool."
Coach Slot believes this is another lesson for his players. "The difference between winning or losing in a game like this isn't that big. I know pretty well what Liverpool needs to improve. Not much can change throughout the season. Of course, tactically, we can change some things. That's pretty clear and we will improve it next season," the Dutch coach emphasized.
