On the evening of November 21, the Vietnamese women's futsal team defeated Thailand 2-1 to win the 2024 Southeast Asian women's futsal championship. Nguyen Phuong Anh shined with 2 goals to help the Vietnamese women's futsal team win.
After the match, coach of the Thai women's futsal team Surapong Plyouwong apologized to Thai fans for the defeat in the final match and sent congratulations to the Vietnamese futsal team.
“ First of all, I would like to apologize to Thai futsal fans for not being able to bring the championship trophy home. I would also like to congratulate the Vietnamese women's futsal team. Today, our players played well. But at important moments, we failed to take advantage of scoring opportunities, before making mistakes in extra time ,” coach Surapong Plyouwong shared.

" When we tried to equalize, we made more mistakes. We had problems with concentration in the last minutes. This was a quality and dramatic match. Everyone is disappointed that we could not win the championship this time," added Mr. Surapong Plyouwong.
After the final match, the Thai women's futsal team will return home to prepare for the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship qualifiers from January 11-19, 2025. In this qualifier, the Thai women's futsal team is in Group A with Lebanon, Bahrain, Palestine and Iraq.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's futsal team was awarded 600 million VND by the VFF after winning the championship. Besides the championship, the Vietnamese women's futsal team also won 2 individual awards.
Nguyen Phuong Anh was the top scorer - the player who scored the most goals in the tournament with 4 goals. Trinh Nguyen Thanh Hang was the best player of the tournament.
