The workshop was organized to introduce advanced technologies and solutions in environmental treatment and applied biology; create a forum for management agencies, institutes, schools, businesses and scientific and technological organizations to exchange, discuss, connect technology supply and demand; seek cooperation opportunities and support innovation in the environmental field.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Tran Dien, Deputy Head of the Department of Technology Application and Deployment (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) said that the workshop was held in the context that the whole country is implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology and innovation development; along with the Law on Science, Technology and Innovation and decrees guiding its implementation. With the goal of creating an open and substantive connection space between management agencies, scientists and the business community in the environmental field, the Department of Innovation and the Academy jointly organized the workshop. This is an important activity to promote technology application and transfer, contributing to solving environmental challenges at both national and local levels.

Dr. Nguyen Tran Dien added that the Academy - a government agency with the function of basic research, technology development and providing scientific arguments for policy making - always determines that science and technology must be closely linked to practice, practically serving sustainable development.

In recent times, the Academy has focused on investing and implementing many researches, applications and technology transfers in areas such as waste treatment, environmental biotechnology, monitoring, warning, digital technology, new materials and solutions to serve green, circular and sustainable agriculture and aquaculture.

The conference is not only a forum for sharing and introducing technology, but also opens up new opportunities for cooperation. Through dialogue, exchange and direct technology supply-demand connection activities between businesses and scientists, many long-term, substantive and effective cooperation links, programs and projects are expected to be formed.

At the workshop, experts commented that the environment is becoming the biggest global challenge today, from climate change, air pollution, water resources to waste pressure. In Vietnam, the rapid economic development process makes these issues even more urgent. In that context, seizing opportunities from the Industrial Revolution 4.0 is considered an inevitable path and the key to opening the door to that revolution is innovation and technology.

Innovation and technology commercialization are not only a global trend but also an important condition for effective linkage between research institutes, universities and businesses. This linkage creates sustainable value for the economy, society and environment, because sustainable development cannot rely solely on resources but increasingly depends on knowledge, technology and creativity. Therefore, the cooperation between managers, scientists and the business community is an indispensable factor.

At the workshop, experts and scientists presented many new studies, from IoT applications in monitoring water quality in aquaculture to using biofilm-forming microorganisms to treat oil pollution. In the aquaculture sector, scientists emphasized that water quality monitoring is the key step; the application of automatic, continuous monitoring systems helps to move from experience-based aquaculture models to data-driven precision aquaculture, optimize processes and improve efficiency - especially in the context of increasingly intensive and super-intensive farming models.

In addition, the workshop also introduced a number of other technological solutions, including the Plasma solution combined with ultrasound in infection control. This is an advanced solution that combines two powerful physical technologies to create outstanding disinfection and infection control efficiency, especially in medical and industrial applications.
