Speaking at the scientific conference on Vietnam-Korea relations, Consul General Doan Phuong Lan chose the topic "Potential for cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Busan city: Strategic bridge for innovation and development".
Consul General Doan Phuong Lan said that the cooperation between Busan and Vietnamese localities has formed a foundation of trust and efficiency. In particular, the launch of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan in 2025 is not only the establishment of a diplomatic agency but also the formation of a bridge mechanism to support and promote cooperation between Busan, the Southeast region of Korea and Vietnamese localities.
Affirming that the development orientations of Busan and Vietnamese localities are similar, creating natural complementarities to form comprehensive and long-term cooperation chains.
While Busan is implementing the 2030 Strategy to become a Global Hub City - a global center for international trade, finance, events and logistics and a Tech-Hub City - a pioneering urban area in AI, big data, robotics, marine technology and green technology, Vietnam is carrying out the largest administrative reform in decades, merging 64 provinces/cities into 34 administrative units with larger economic scale, to optimize resources and create growth zones, aiming for double-digit growth from 2026 based on digital transformation, science - technology, green economy - renewable energy and smart urban development.
Consul General Doan Phuong Lan proposed that the two sides closely coordinate to promote local diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges, choose the right focus, and prioritize cooperation in areas that create resonance such as logistics, seaports, international trade connections, high technology, innovation, smart cities and marine economy, environment, and renewable energy.
Consul General Doan Phuong Lan expressed her belief that the cooperation between Busan city and Vietnamese localities could become a model of comprehensive strategic partnership at the local level, bringing direct benefits to businesses and people of both sides; creating development momentum for Busan, as well as key economic regions of Vietnam; contributing to strengthening Vietnam-Korea relations in the next generation.
This scientific conference was organized by the Association of Koreans who love Vietnam (VESAMO) and a number of universities in Korea and Vietnam. Attending the event were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Korea Vu Ho, Chairman of VESAMO Chang Ho Ick, representatives of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association, Yongsan University, Binh Duong University...
