Promoting cooperation in the development of cross-border e-commerce.

Against the backdrop of e-commerce and the digital economy continuing to play a crucial role in growth, the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (eComDX), under the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), held a working session with the Alliance for Cross-Border E-commerce (ACBC) – VIETFAS to discuss cooperation directions in trade promotion activities through organizing study tours, experience sharing in cross-border e-commerce development, and international events and seminars aimed at strengthening business connections and expanding export markets.

Expand trade through field trips and international seminars.

In recent years, cross-border e-commerce has become an inevitable trend, helping businesses shorten geographical distances and participate more deeply in the global value chain. Based on this, the working session between eComDX and ACBC – VIETFAS focused on sharing information and identifying practical areas of cooperation to serve the domestic and international business community.

Both sides agreed to coordinate the organization of study tours and experience-sharing programs on cross-border e-commerce development to markets such as China, the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia (business trips), as well as international events and seminars aimed at strengthening business connections and expanding export markets. Accordingly, the program aims to help Vietnamese businesses access target markets, meet directly with partners, distributors, and e-commerce platforms abroad; organize or support events, forums, and seminars to share experiences and best practices in cross-border e-commerce development; and conduct study tours of supermarkets, retail chains, import/export companies, livestreaming factories, training facilities, e-commerce operators, and logistics companies involved in the operation and development of cross-border e-commerce.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan, Director of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (eComDX), through these activities, businesses are not only equipped with knowledge and market information but also have the opportunity to directly test cross-border e-commerce business models and operating methods, find business partners, and gather market information. This allows businesses to adjust their strategies to suit each market. Mr. Tuan and his partners also emphasized that the two organizations will continue to support and advise businesses after the business trips on market connections, product offerings, and policy implementation.

Vision: Bringing Vietnamese products to the international market.

During the meeting, the partner presented an overview of ACBC – VIETFAS, an actively operating ecosystem in the field of cross-border e-commerce. VIETFAS is considered a pioneer in providing cross-border e-commerce services to domestic and international businesses, and has built an ecosystem of eight startup companies operating in key areas such as supply chain, logistics, software, business support services, and investment. Currently, hundreds of domestic and international businesses are using the products and services provided by this ecosystem. VIETFAS's customers come from many major markets such as South Korea, Japan, China, and Thailand, in addition to collaborating with major e-commerce platforms in Vietnam such as Shopee, TikTok, Lazada, and Tiki. Beyond simply providing services, ACBC – VIETFAS aims to build a multinational network connecting businesses, technology platforms, logistics organizations, industry experts, and trade support agencies, thereby creating a transparent, efficient, and sustainable collaborative environment.

Sharing her vision for development, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An – CEO of the VIETFAS ecosystem – stated that the long-term goal is to build a complete cross-border e-commerce ecosystem, contributing to the promotion of global e-commerce and bringing products and services with a "Vietnamese spirit" to the international market. This year and in the years to come, VIETFAS will focus on promoting cooperation between Vietnamese businesses and localities in China, aiming to bring Vietnamese goods closer to this vast market through digital platforms and modern distribution networks, instead of focusing solely on imports.

Simultaneously, the ecosystem is also boosting connectivity activities in Southeast Asia. Work and networking programs in Singapore in 2025 are identified as a key milestone, helping Vietnamese businesses access the digital retail, logistics, and support services ecosystem in the region, gradually expanding their brand presence and participating more deeply in the digital commerce value chain.

Partnering with businesses

On behalf of eComDX, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan emphasized the role of the eComDX Center in connecting policies, resources, and the business community to promote cross-border e-commerce activities. Specifically, eComDX organized a delegation of over 20 businesses to visit, learn from, and attend the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation to promote cross-border e-commerce between the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy and Shopee in Singapore in November 2025. Activities included: promoting B2C online exports of Vietnamese micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to ASEAN and international markets; developing a "Vietnam National Pavilion" on Shopee International and showcasing authentic, high-quality products from Vietnamese MSMEs; training and capacity building for MSMEs in B2C online exports; and implementing digital promotion campaigns in ASEAN.

During the meeting, eComDX and ACBC also shared their plans for coordinating the implementation of the Global Cross-Border E-commerce Conference 2026 in Hanoi (GCEBS 2026) and the main directions of the conference's activities.

According to eComDX's assessment, the active participation of organizations and businesses such as ACBC – VIETFAS will contribute to supplementing social resources, creating a ripple effect for trade promotion programs, and helping policies to be implemented more effectively in practice. In the context of a volatile global economy , strengthening cooperation, connectivity, and resource sharing is considered key to helping businesses enhance their competitiveness, expand markets, and adapt to new international trade standards.
