"Uncle Ho" - two simple, familiar yet sacred words that express the affection the Vietnamese people have for their beloved leader. President Ho Chi Minh 's greatness in the hearts of the people stems from his character and his deeds for the people and the nation.
In his speech at the Party Badge Award Ceremony for veteran Party members of the Hanoi Party Committee today, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that all comrades awarded the Party Badge share a common and admirable trait: absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people; always placing the common good above personal interests. The ideology of "the people are the foundation" in the Ho Chi Minh era continues to be promoted and concretized through the Party and State's policies and guidelines, aiming towards the highest goal and ultimate destination: the people enjoying the fruits of development.
In Sam Son ward, the fishing village that once welcomed President Ho Chi Minh has changed. However, the story of President Ho Chi Minh participating in pulling in the nets like a seasoned fisherman skilled at the sea is still recounted by the locals with deep pride.
Mrs. Le Thi Hot, now 93 years old, still remembers the image of Uncle Ho chatting with her father-in-law on a bamboo bed before going to sea. According to her, when Uncle Ho came to visit Son village, everyone was happy and proud that their family had the honor of welcoming him.
Ms. Le Thi Loi recounted that whenever the fishermen returned from sea, Uncle Ho would also help carry the fish and inquire about each catch. When the fishermen pulled in their nets, Uncle Ho would also join in. Only when Uncle Ho left did the people realize that he was President Ho Chi Minh, and everyone was overjoyed.
During his time at the Presidential Palace, Uncle Ho visited more than 900 facilities in various localities, construction sites, factories, military units, and met with the people. The closeness and sincerity between the leader and the people strengthened trust and rallied the masses around the Party, leading to the nation's great victories.
The principle of "the people are the foundation" continues to be inherited and promoted by the Party. This message, repeatedly emphasized by General Secretary and President To Lam, serves as a strategic declaration of action: all policies must originate from the people, all decisions must be directed towards the people, and all ultimate achievements must belong to the people.
This morning, at the ceremony to award the 80-year, 75-year, and 70-year Party membership badges to veteran Party members of the Hanoi City Party Committee, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed: The Party has grown from the people, fought, sacrificed, innovated, and developed for the people. Every cadre and Party member today must live, work, and contribute in a manner worthy of the glorious history of the Party, the sacrifices of previous generations, and the trust and expectations of the people.
Policies on tuition fee exemptions and reductions in education, along with the construction of 248 boarding schools at all levels, are not only educational investments but also long-term development orientations for border regions. The fact that many localities organize free health check-ups or screenings at least once a year is also considered a major step forward in social welfare.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tien Quyet, former Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, believes that the policy of providing free health check-ups for citizens once a year is a step in the roadmap towards free hospital services, contributing to ensuring fairness in medical examination and treatment so that all citizens have access to healthcare services. According to him, this is a major step forward in social welfare.
Associate Professor Bui Hoai Son stated that resolutions 57, 59, 66, 68, 71, 72, and 80 all consistently uphold the spirit of harnessing the people's resources and caring for their well-being. According to him, this is a consistent inheritance of President Ho Chi Minh's ideology of "putting the people first." Gaining the people's trust creates a powerful impetus for the nation's development aspirations.
When all policies are geared towards the people, trust is strengthened. When every citizen is given the opportunity to contribute and innovate, the national strength will be powerfully unleashed. This is the resource that ensures rapid and sustainable development in the new context.
