Previously, patient D.VT (76 years old, residing in Gia Lai province) came to Da Nang Oncology Hospital for examination and treatment due to difficulty swallowing. After consultation, the doctors immediately performed a pancreatic biopsy on the patient.
According to the medical team, prior to the procedure, they conducted a consultation and created a 3D reconstruction based on abdominal CT scans. They also incorporated techniques to compress the digestive tract during the procedure to create a safe pathway for the biopsy needle. The doctors stated that obtaining a biopsy sample for pathological examination was crucial for this patient. Once the pathology results were available, doctors could quickly begin treatment and prolong the patient's life.
Dr. Pham Nguyen Huy Tung, from the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at Da Nang Oncology Hospital, stated that pancreatic biopsy is one of the challenging techniques in the group of deep organ biopsies, requiring doctors not only to have strong professional expertise but also to have the experience to handle situations flexibly in each case. The success of the case not only demonstrates the professional competence of the team but also shows the crucial role of diagnostic imaging techniques in modern medicine, where every accurate decision can open up better treatment opportunities for patients.
