According to the latest data from the Department of Taxation ( Ministry of Finance ), in the first 6 months of 2025, the amount of tax collected from organizations and individuals doing business in e-commerce and digital economy was 98,000 billion VND, an increase of 58% over the same period in 2024.
The country currently has about 725,000 organizations and individuals doing business on e-commerce platforms, with a total transaction value of more than VND75,000 billion. From July 1, e-commerce platforms and digital platforms must deduct and pay taxes on behalf of sellers on the platforms. Revenue subject to value-added tax and personal income of sellers on the platforms includes all money from goods and services, excluding transaction fees, transportation, discounts, and subsidies, according to the guidance of tax authorities.
Experts expect that when tax management is tightened, revenue from e-commerce will continue to increase.
