Vietnam's national brand needs to reach out into the green era

Enterprises achieving national brands must rely on science, technology, innovation, renewing traditional growth drivers, promoting new growth drivers from green economy , circular economy, digital economy, knowledge economy, sharing economy, etc.

On November 4, at the National Convention Center, the Ceremony to Announce Products that Achieved Vietnam National Brand in 2024 took place with the theme "Strengthening into the Green Era".
The Vietnam National Brand Program is a unique, long-term, and specific trade promotion program of the Government , implemented since 2003 with the goal of promoting the development of national brands by supporting businesses in building and developing strong brands in the market. Thereby, promoting the image of Vietnam as a country with a developed manufacturing industry and many high-quality goods, contributing to improving national competitiveness and raising the position of Vietnamese brands in the international arena.
NATIONAL BRANDED PRODUCTS CONTINUOUSLY INCREASED
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that building and developing the Vietnamese national brand is a task of special importance and strategic significance, a mission of all of us with perseverance, effort and unceasing creativity. In which, building a national product brand is one of the core contents.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated and warmly congratulated the efforts and important contributions of the Vietnamese business community and enterprises, especially the 190 enterprises whose products achieved the National Brand in 2024.
According to the Prime Minister, these are all enterprises with impressive business results with total revenue in 2023 reaching 2.4 million billion VND, total contribution to the state budget of about 150 trillion VND, ensuring jobs for over 600 thousand workers and people, actively participating in social security activities, contributing to promoting the country's rapid and sustainable development.
Over the past 20 years, the National Brand Program has increasingly affirmed itself as one of the prestigious and quality programs. The number of enterprises with products achieving the National Brand has continuously increased over the years, from 30 enterprises in 2008 to 190 enterprises in 2024.
The program not only affirms the quality of products and services produced in Vietnam, but also affirms the capacity, intelligence, bravery, flexibility and creativity of Vietnamese enterprises. This contributes to building a solid position in the domestic market and beautifying the two words "Vietnam" in the international market. At the same time, it affirms the great contribution of Vietnamese enterprises in the process of building the National Brand.
According to Brand Finance, in recent years, Vietnam's national brand has made great strides. Vietnam is not only in the Top 100 countries with strong brands, but also the country with the fastest brand value growth rate in the world in the period 2019-2022. Vietnam's brand value in 2024 is ranked 32nd out of 193 countries assessed, reaching 507 billion USD, up 1 rank and 2% increase in value compared to 2023.
“This is a clear demonstration of the tireless efforts of the business community and entrepreneurs, along with the results of the National Brand Program and the positive impacts of the Party and State's mechanisms and policies in creating a business environment, attracting investment, promoting innovation and sustainable development,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
EXPLOIT OPPORTUNITIES FROM GREEN GROWTH TRENDS
The Prime Minister said that in the context of digital transformation, green transformation, and circular economy being inevitable trends, enterprises with national brands must not only develop traditional business sectors, but also focus on attracting investment and creating momentum for pioneering sectors and fields.
Growth must not only rely on capital and resource exploitation as before, but must also rely on science, technology, and innovation. It must not only promote and renew traditional growth drivers, but also promote new growth drivers from the green economy, circular economy, digital economy, knowledge economy, and sharing economy.
“We need to clearly understand that a brand is not only an affirmation of product quality, but also a commitment to sustainable development to "Reach out into the Green Era", the Prime Minister once again emphasized.
Therefore, the Prime Minister noted that in the coming time, businesses need to focus on implementing well a number of key tasks and solutions:
Firstly , constantly focus on exploiting opportunities from the green growth and sustainable development trend; pioneering in the green revolution. The beautiful image of each national brand will be a beautiful image of the brand of the country, traditions, culture, and people of Vietnam. Especially in the context of the world promoting commitments to reduce emissions and combat climate change, businesses need to proactively switch to green production models, using renewable energy and environmentally friendly technology.
Second , continuously improve modern management capacity; apply advanced, transparent and healthy management standards; focus on sustainability in production. Proactively innovate production and business models, restructure enterprises associated with the development of green economy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, and sharing economy.
Third , constantly innovate, create, develop and apply science and technology to improve labor productivity and business efficiency and minimize negative impacts on the environment, proactively entering the green era.
Fourth , continue to cultivate political and professional qualities; comply with legal regulations; be proactive and take the lead on the socio-economic development front; have great ambitions and aspirations for development, becoming a model of entrepreneurial spirit, doing business with integrity, humanity and responsibility.
Fifth , focus on training high-quality human resources with good skills, deep expertise, international qualifications and professional work, promptly serving the requirements of production and business development.
Sixth , focus on building and improving corporate and entrepreneurial culture; ensure full material and spiritual benefits for employees. Integrate core values of business ethics and social responsibility into the long-term development strategy of the enterprise with environmental protection and community development...
The Prime Minister said that what the Party and State always want, share and entrust the most is for entrepreneurs to bring their time, intelligence, compassion and business ethics as the sources for sustainable development of enterprises, entering the green era.
The Government understands, shares, listens and will continue to have supportive solutions to remove difficulties and create maximum conditions for businesses to develop. Specifically, it will continue to perfect policy mechanisms, reform administrative procedures, improve the investment and business environment - considering removing bottlenecks and barriers that cause difficulties for businesses as an important political task of all levels, sectors and localities.
The Prime Minister hopes that in the coming time, there will be many enterprises that meet the criteria of the Vietnam and international National Brand Program.
The success of entrepreneurs and businesses is also the success of the country, contributing to building the image of Vietnam as a green, innovative and powerful developing country on the world map.
