The sticky rice cakes from Dòng village are being introduced on e-commerce platforms, helping to promote them to a wider range of customers nationwide.
In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, households making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) in Dong village, Xuan Lung commune, are busy washing banana leaves, preparing bamboo, rinsing rice, sorting beans, slicing and marinating meat, lighting fires to wrap the cakes, and promptly fulfilling customer orders. The bustling and lively atmosphere signals the approaching Tet season.
In recent years, the sticky rice cakes from Lang Dong village have not only been available in the local market but have also expanded to many provinces and cities nationwide, and even to international markets. Currently, all products bearing the Lang Dong brand belong to Lang Dong Joint Stock Company (established in 2011).
In addition to its main products such as banh chung, banh nang, banh gai, and banh gio, Lang Dong also offers banh duc and banh day, which have been digitized and uploaded to social media platforms like websites and Facebook, as well as e-commerce sites like Shopee and Lazada. This contributes to enhancing brand value, expanding distribution channels, and bringing traditional specialties closer to consumers both domestically and internationally.
Mr. Chu Manh Hung, one of the households making traditional cakes in Dong village, said: "In recent years, in addition to traditional distribution channels, e-commerce has gradually become popular and is playing an increasingly important role due to its wide level of interaction. As a result, the number of orders has increased significantly, not only for traditional cakes like banh chung and banh day used during Tet but also for other types of cakes such as banh gio, banh nang, gio..."
Throughout the production process, we place utmost emphasis on ensuring food safety and hygiene at all stages, maintaining our brand reputation. This year, the number of orders has increased significantly, helping those in the trade to earn more income and celebrate the Lunar New Year with even more joy.
Currently, e-commerce is developing rapidly. This creates opportunities for businesses and production and processing facilities, including those dealing in agricultural products, to promote, exploit, and expand their markets. Thanks to social media applications such as Zalo, Facebook, and TikTok, many businesses have been able to showcase their products in various forms such as articles, images, and video clips, making it easier to create a positive impression and reach consumers.
Ms. Dao Thi Thu Trang, Director of the Green Food Cooperative located in Ban Nguyen commune, shared: "The digitization of products and their placement on social media and e-commerce platforms has eliminated the geographical distance between producers, businesses, and consumers. Consumers only need a smartphone or computer to choose and buy goods anywhere, anytime with just a click. Especially during the Lunar New Year of the Horse, the number of online orders increased significantly."
Mr. Cao Dang Duy, Director of Hung Lo Rice Noodle Cooperative in Van Phu Ward, said: To expand the market, since 2021, the cooperative has developed online business channels through e-commerce platforms and social media to promote products and reach a wider range of consumers both domestically and internationally. Currently, the cooperative sells an average of 65-70 tons of rice noodles per month, generating revenue of over 20 billion VND per year and providing regular employment for 35 workers with an income of 6.5 million VND per person per month. This has significantly contributed to preserving and promoting the traditional craft, improving the material and spiritual lives of cooperative members and people in Hung Lo village. In particular, the cooperative's products have been exported to several international markets and are popular with consumers. During this Tet holiday, the number of customers ordering products through applications has also increased compared to normal days.

Many businesses, cooperatives, and agricultural product processing and trading establishments in the province have boosted product sales through e-commerce platforms such as Voso.vn, Giaothuong.net, Shopee, Lazada, and Sendo... These platforms have high interaction rates, contributing to the promotion of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic product consumption, especially during the Tet holiday.
Ms. Do Thi Thanh Nga from Thanh Mieu ward said that bringing products to the digital environment helps consumers, especially young people, save time shopping. Products with QR codes provide complete information, making it convenient to compare prices from many suppliers, thereby choosing suitable products for both Tet (Lunar New Year) and daily life.
In particular, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has launched the "Digital Transformation Software for Agriculture and Rural Development in Phu Tho Province - nongsanphutho.com.vn" - a software designed to manage agricultural products, specialties, and OCOP products. The software, with its digital agricultural product map feature, has made a positive contribution to promoting, introducing, and selling agricultural products, especially OCOP products, on social media platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, Zalo, Facebook, and websites.

The distinctive agricultural products of Phu Tho are featured on the website nongsanphutho.com.vn.
This Tet holiday, consumers can choose from a wide variety of goods thanks to digitalization; they can simply place an order and have it shipped directly to their door, which is very convenient when they still have many other tasks to do during the holiday. According to our research, businesses operating in the production, processing, and trading of agricultural products have seen an increase in the number of orders sold after digitalization.
This will significantly contribute to promoting digital transformation in the agricultural sector in the province in the coming time, creating favorable conditions for units to develop production and business, and increasing income for workers, especially in rural areas.
