On the morning of December 7, Vietnamese badminton officially started at the 33rd SEA Games in the women's team event. Nguyen Thuy Linh and her teammates met their opponents in Malaysia. According to the format, the two teams played 3 singles matches and 2 doubles matches.
Thuy Linh is the pioneer for the Vietnamese badminton team, meeting her opponent Karupathevan Letshanaa (ranked 42nd in the world ). He is also the current number 1 player in Malaysia.
Thuy Linh had a good start, but then Karupathevan played very well to level the score and take the lead. From the score of 13/13, Letshanaa increased the gap before winning the first set against Nguyen Thuy Linh with a score of 21/15.
