Badminton at SEA Games 33 takes place from December 7-14, with 7 competitions, including: Men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, men's team, women's team.
The Vietnamese badminton team competes in four events: Men's singles, women's singles, mixed doubles and women's team.
Vietnam badminton team leaves for Thailand to attend SEA Games 33
In the women's team event, Vietnam has Nguyen Thuy Linh, Vu Thi Trang, Tran Thi Phuong Thuy, Pham Thi Dieu Ly, Bui Bich Phuong and Pham Thi Khanh.
In round 1, the team met Malaysia to compete for a ticket to the semi-finals. Right in the first singles match, Vietnam's number 1 tennis player - Nguyen Thuy Linh excellently came back to win 2-1 against Karupathevan Letshanaa.
However, in the second singles match, veteran tennis player Vu Thi Trang lost 1-2 to Wong Ling Ching.
In the following doubles match, Pham Thi Dieu Ly/ Pham Thi Khanh lost 0-2 to Pearly Tan/ Thinaah Muralitharan. Next, Bich Phuong lost 0-2 to Siti Zulaikha in the fourth singles match.
Losing 1-3 to Malaysia, the Vietnamese women's team lost the chance to enter the semi-finals for a medal. The team still has to compete in the men's singles, women's singles, and mixed doubles in the following days.
At SEA Games 33, in addition to female players, Vietnamese badminton also has two male players, Le Duc Phat and Nguyen Hai Dang.
