Land accumulation helps open up large-scale production in Tung Loc

(Baohatinh.vn) - As one of the leading localities in implementing the policy on land accumulation, Tung Loc commune (Ha Tinh) has completed the third agricultural land conversion project, paving the way for modern, effective and sustainable agricultural production.

Tung Loc is a locality that was merged from two communes, Thuan Thien and Tung Loc - the land that was considered the rice granary of Can Loc district (old). Like many other localities, Tung Loc previously had to face the situation of fragmented, small-scale land, unfocused production, making the application of machinery and scientific and technical advances difficult.

To date, Tung Loc has converted nearly 1,000 hectares of agricultural land.

Implementing the major policy of the province and district on land accumulation and concentration, since 2020, the commune has boldly deployed the third agricultural land conversion project on a commune-wide scale. With the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people benefit", the locality has organized dozens of public meetings, surveys, and transparent public opinion gathering. People not only participate in planning, but also proactively contribute funds and working days to renovate fields, build internal roads and canals. It is this consensus that has created a "revolution" in land conversion, forming concentrated production areas, facilitating mechanization, improving productivity and cultivation value.

Recalling the early days of implementing the provincial and district resolutions on land conversion, Ms. Bui Thi Huyen - head of Lang Khang village said: "At that time, the sound of machines in the fields was as bustling as a construction site. The land conversion on an area of nearly 90 hectares of the village was agreed upon by 100% of households. Each household voluntarily contributed additional funds to build roads and canals. Although it was costly at first, everyone was excited because after being converted to one plot, production was convenient, mechanization was easy to apply, saving labor and costs."

From the Party's will and the people's heart, the movement of land accumulation and concentration in Tung Loc spread strongly, becoming a strong mark in the process of agricultural innovation of the locality. After completing the project, the small, fragmented fields of the past have given way to concentrated, large-scale production areas, favorable for mechanization and application of modern science and technology.

Along with that, the commune has built 51 large-scale field models, each model has a scale of 5 hectares or more, and successfully tested organic rice cultivation with productivity and value surpassing mass production. On that foundation, Tung Loc has gradually formed a production-consumption chain, aiming for high-quality, commodity agriculture, bringing stable and sustainable income to farmers.

Mr. Dang Van Anh - Director of Tung Loc Agricultural and Environmental Services Cooperative informed: "Currently, the Cooperative is managing and organizing the production of 480 hectares of concentrated fields with the participation of hundreds of members. The implementation of large-plot fields has helped the fields to be flat, convenient for mechanization of all stages: from land preparation, sowing to harvesting. In particular, the Cooperative applies the 3-generic synchronous production process (common varieties, common seasons, common techniques) to limit pests and diseases, save costs and improve farming efficiency. Thanks to that, rice productivity has continuously increased over the seasons. In the spring crop of 2025, the average yield of fresh rice reached 3.2 quintals - 3.5 quintals/sao (an increase of about 20kg-30kg/sao compared to before the conversion). Not only productivity, but also the economic value per unit area has increased significantly."

After land conversion, Tung Loc commune has built linkage models and model fields with the 3 common production process.

The joy from the large fields has also spread to each family, present in the bumper crop of the people. Mr. Phan Dinh Hoa in Minh Tien village (Tung Loc) shared: "My family produces 4 sao of rice on the model field of the commune, the people agreed to implement "3 chung" production, so production costs were saved about 15-20% compared to before. The most joyful thing is that the rice grows well, the rate of empty grains is very low, the yield is outstanding".

Looking back at the bumper harvests, Tung Loc people are more aware of the correctness and timeliness of the land accumulation policy. Not only have productivity and output increased significantly, but more importantly, the farmers' production mindset has also changed. They have shifted from small-scale production to large-scale commodity production, from farming to agricultural economics.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Tung - Head of Economic Department, Tung Loc Commune People's Committee said: "Land accumulation has opened the way for large-scale production in the locality. In the coming time, the commune will focus on developing organic agriculture, building key commodity products, in which high-quality rice is the focus. At the same time, promote production - processing - consumption linkages according to the value chain and apply VietGAP standards. We call on businesses to establish cooperatives and cooperatives to accumulate land, implement agricultural restructuring, improve productivity and efficiency on each unit of area".

Up to now, the whole commune has converted nearly 1,000 hectares of agricultural land. From small fields, they have now become large, flat fields. Many households have boldly invested in harvesters, plows, and transplanters to serve production, creating more jobs and on-site agricultural services. On each field today, people not only sow rice but also sow faith in a new direction - the direction of modern, sustainable agriculture and getting rich right in their homeland.
