Vietnam national team striker praises Xuan Son as 'of another class'

Striker Pham Gia Hung was deeply impressed with Nguyen Xuan Son's football skills during his training days with the Vietnamese team.

On the afternoon of November 13, the Vietnamese team held its third training session in Phu Tho to prepare for the match against Laos in the second leg of the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup. Before the training session, striker Pham Gia Hung answered media interviews.

"Of course, with Xuan Son, the Vietnamese team will be stronger. He will help the team a lot," Pham Gia Hung shared.

After 2 days of training with Xuan Son, Gia Hung was deeply impressed with what the naturalized striker born in 1997 showed even though he had just returned after a long time of not playing.

"Xuan Son has a different level. We learned a lot about the movement and thinking of a real striker from him. He is definitely better than me. Even though he just returned after 11 months of injury, Xuan Son integrated very quickly. I have to learn a lot from him," he said.

If nothing changes, Xuan Son and his Vietnamese teammates will leave for Laos on November 15 to prepare for the rematch on November 19.

Pham Gia Hung, born in 2000, is one of the new recruits of the Vietnam national team in 2025. This training session is the third time he has been called up to the national team by coach Kim Sang Sik this year.

Under the Ninh Binh Club shirt, Gia Hung stood out from the First Division last season, contributing many goals to help the team win a ticket to V-League 2025 - 2026.

Even when the Vietnamese team had Nguyen Xuan Son, Pham Gia Hung was still called up to show his talent. That proved that Gia Hung had his own qualities and made an impression on coach Kim Sang Sik.

"I am happy to wear the Vietnamese national team shirt again. If given the opportunity, I will try to show my ability. Coach Kim requires a striker to know how to finish and move in a way that fits the team's philosophy," Pham Gia Hung said.
