Bidding farewell to distant strangers, welcoming close neighbors.

The official and plausible reason, which nonetheless cannot erase the perception, is that Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China was deliberately arranged by Russia and China to follow US President Donald Trump's visit to China.

Even before Donald Trump set foot in China, it was almost certain that his trip would be more symbolic than substantive, achieving some results but not bringing about any major agreements or breakthroughs in US-China relations.

Meanwhile, even before President Putin left Russia for his visit to China, everyone knew for sure that he would have another successful trip. The main reason is that strategic trust or strategic confidence exists only in the relationship between Russia and China, and not in the relationship between the United States and China.

The official pretext for Putin's trip to China was to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between China and Russia, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of their Strategic Partnership, and the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Putin's visit to China, just days after Donald Trump's departure, hinted at a deliberate intention by both Russia and China to highlight the stark contrast and stark contrast between US-China relations and Russia-China relations.

Russia and China deliberately orchestrated this seemingly coincidental timing to affirm their unity and solidarity, thereby strengthening their geopolitical counterweight to the United States; and also to establish the roles and positions of Russia and China in the new world order and demonstrate that Donald Trump could not succeed in his attempt to separate China from Russia.

Naturally, Russian President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will also discuss promoting bilateral cooperation in all areas, including unifying views and coordinating actions between China and Russia on global , continental, and regional issues. Putin's trip to China further affirms the "unlimited cooperation" between the two countries and demonstrates that China is currently Russia's most important strategic ally, while Russia is China's most important strategic partner. These developments carry significant negative messages for Donald Trump.

Putin and Xi Jinping are also using the continued strengthening of relations between Russia and China to directly influence world politics. They are joining forces to consolidate a multipolar world order, strengthen the global South, and counter the Western bloc. The United States, the European Union (EU), and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are forced to realize that they cannot draw Russia and China to the same side regarding the US war against Iran, nor can they persuade China to join their ranks regarding the war in Ukraine.

The stronger and more effective the alliance between Russia and China becomes, the more robust the counterweight to the West will be, and the more decisive the roles and positions of Russia and China will be within the global South. Looking further ahead, it is impossible to rule out the scenario of two concurrent spheres of influence in economics and technology: one led by the US, EU, and the Western bloc; and another with China and Russia playing a leading role.
