Boosting the reach of OCOP products.

QTO - Investing in equipment and expanding production scale are practical actions that many OCOP (One Commune One Product) businesses in the province have implemented recently, thanks to preferential loan support from the Provincial Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP). Beyond simply supporting policy-beneficiary households and those in difficult circumstances to become self-sufficient, policy credit capital is becoming a bridge for OCOP products to reach further markets.

Dinh Son Mai Thi Thuy Herbal Extract Company Limited, located in Cam Lo commune, specializes in producing products extracted from natural herbs. To date, the company has approximately 40 products, including 12 products that have achieved OCOP 3-star and 4-star ratings, such as: *Chè vằng* extract, *Cà gai leo* extract, *An xoa* extract, *Hà thủ ô* extract, *Lạc tiên* extract... The *Chè vằng* extract product is currently undergoing the application process for OCOP 5-star recognition.

Sharing her entrepreneurial journey, Ms. Mai Thi Thuy, the company's director, said that in addition to her own efforts and family support, she is very grateful for the preferential credit. “During a difficult period for production due to a lack of capital, I was fortunate to access preferential loans from the Cam Lo branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies through the job creation program. Most recently, I received a loan of 100 million VND to continue investing, upgrading machinery, and developing the raw material growing area to stabilize production,” Ms. Thuy confided.

To date, the products of Dinh Son Mai Thi Thuy Herbal Medicine Company Limited have been well-received and trusted by consumers both within and outside the province. The timely support from policy-based credit has helped the company develop its brand of local herbal products and expand into larger markets, enabling it to prosper in its homeland.

Another successful entity in using preferential loans to promote OCOP products is the Tam An Agricultural Cooperative in Cam Hong commune. For a long time, Hong Thuy chili peppers have been famous for their distinctive spicy flavor. With the desire to introduce their hometown's agricultural products to friends everywhere, Mr. and Mrs. Hoang Van Thanh, Director of the Tam An Agricultural Cooperative, researched and produced Hong Thuy chili powder.

Since 2021, this product has been recognized as a 3-star OCOP product. Thanks to a 100 million VND loan through the employment program of the Social Policy Bank of Le Thuy, Tam An Cooperative has had additional resources to invest in fertilizers, seeds, and upgrade machinery.

“On average, the cooperative produces about 8 tons of chili powder for the market each year. The success of the cooperative is not only about creating jobs for local workers but also about spreading the distinctive agricultural products of our homeland. In the future, we hope to access more preferential loan sources so that we can bring more distinctive products to the market,” Mr. Thanh said.

Over the years, with the desire to support OCOP (One Commune One Product) entities in investing in equipment and machinery, expanding production scale, maintaining and developing OCOP products, and improving product quality, the Provincial Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has directed its transaction offices to actively coordinate in reviewing and understanding the loan needs of customers, prioritizing capital from the poverty and near-poverty programs and job creation programs so that households, businesses, production facilities, and cooperatives can borrow capital to build and develop OCOP products.

To date, the total outstanding debt from preferential loan programs throughout the province has reached over 12,800 billion VND with more than 158,000 customers still having outstanding loans. Ms. Tran Duc Xuan Huong, Director of the Social Policy Bank of the province, affirmed that the bank always proactively coordinates with departments, agencies, and entrusted socio-political organizations to promote propaganda and focus on supporting business households, enterprises, and cooperatives to access preferential loans. Simultaneously, it strengthens on-site reviews to ensure that all poor households and policy beneficiaries receive timely support, especially prioritizing households and cooperatives participating in the OCOP program in the locality.

“Currently, the bank is implementing preferential loans with low interest rates to help many households, businesses, production facilities, and cooperatives invest in expanding production scale and developing OCOP products; at the same time, creating jobs for workers, increasing income, and contributing to promoting local socio -economic development. In the future, the unit will continue to support people in accessing loan capital and developing OCOP products; thereby contributing to shifting the economic structure and increasing people's income,” Ms. Tran Duc Xuan Huong emphasized.
