In Avuong commune, the local police recently organized a program to visit, assist, and present gifts to seven students with particularly difficult circumstances in Aur village.
Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Van Thin, Head of the Avuong Commune Police, said that this is an isolated village located deep in the forest, nearly 20km from the commune center, with treacherous forest roads, where 100% of the inhabitants are Co Tu ethnic people. The children are studying at Nguyen Ba Ngoc Ethnic Boarding Secondary School and Avuong Ethnic Boarding Primary School. This activity is part of the "Adopted Children of the Youth Union" model implemented by the Commune Police Youth Union. Accordingly, the Youth Union provides living expenses of 500,000 VND/child/month along with many necessities such as books, clothes, etc. This helps to share difficulties and allows the children to focus on their studies.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Van Thin, the outstanding feature of the "Adopted Child of the Youth Union" model lies not only in material support but also in its focus on sustainability and long-term viability. Each student is assigned a Youth Union member to directly supervise them, acting as an "older brother or sister," regularly caring for, encouraging, tutoring, and guiding their development.
To maintain resources, in addition to the monthly voluntary contributions from the commune's police force members, the Youth Union also mobilizes social resources from benefactors. Periodically, the Executive Committee of the Youth Union, in coordination with the school and families, assesses the progress of the students, promptly commending those who overcome difficulties and excel in their studies. Simultaneously, social welfare activities for students in disadvantaged areas are also widely implemented in many localities.
In Son Cam Ha commune, the Youth Union, in coordination with the Da Nang City Youth Union - Children's Council and Hyundai Son Tra, organized a winter social work program at Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School. The program donated 150 warm jackets, 217 gift packages including notebooks and school supplies, and 3 bicycles to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. According to Mr. Pham Thanh An, Secretary of the Son Cam Ha Commune Youth Union, the program demonstrates the proactive and sharing spirit of young people, and the partnership and responsibility of businesses towards social welfare.
Meanwhile, in the mountainous commune of Tra Tap, Mr. Le Trung Thuc, Chairman of the People's Committee, said that the city's police leaders had recently visited, encouraged, and donated 40 computer sets to four schools in the area. This timely support contributes to supplementing facilities and gradually improving teaching and learning conditions at the schools.
"The donation of 40 computer sets not only provides teachers with more tools for teaching, but also creates opportunities for students in mountainous areas to access digital technology, become familiar with computer skills, and meet the requirements of educational reform in the current period. At the same time, it spreads a positive image of the People's Police officers, always accompanying and sharing with the people in the highlands," Mr. Thuc said.
