With less than a month to go, 5,654 students from Cao Bang province will take the 2026 High School Graduation Exam, an increase of 630 compared to last year. These days, the atmosphere in schools in the mountainous region is one of intense preparation.

In response to the demands for exam reform and the goal of improving educational quality, the Education Department of Cao Bang province has implemented many comprehensive solutions, with particular emphasis on exam preparation for students.

Be proactive from an early stage and innovate your exam preparation methods.

From the beginning of the school year, the Department of Education and Training of Cao Bang province has focused on directing efforts to improve the quality of preparation for the high school graduation exam. The main focus is Document No. 730/SGDĐT-GDPT&MN dated March 10, 2026, from the Department of Education and Training regarding the organization of review sessions and strengthening measures to improve the quality of the exam.

Accordingly, schools should proactively categorize students to develop appropriate review plans; enhance the application of information technology and digital learning materials; organize mock exams and analyze results to adjust teaching methods; and closely coordinate between families and schools in supporting students' exam preparation.

Beyond issuing directives, the Department continuously organizes professional activities to support teachers and students. Workshops and professional training sessions are conducted in clusters of schools, focusing on key exam subjects such as Mathematics, Literature, and English.

A notable new development this year is that, for the first time, the Cao Bang Provincial Department of Education and Training is sending core teachers of Mathematics and Literature directly to school clusters to support exam preparation.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Thu, Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Education and Training of Cao Bang province, said: "The assignment of core teachers is not only aimed at supporting students but also at creating opportunities for teachers in schools, especially in disadvantaged areas, to exchange expertise and share effective exam preparation experiences."

Accordingly, core teachers directly taught, observed classes, and participated in professional development activities at three school clusters: Bao Lac High School, Be Van Dan High School, and Quang Uyen High School, with the participation of approximately 220 teachers from across the province.

Mr. Luong Ngoc Anh, Principal of Be Van Dan High School (Thuc Phan Ward), said that at his school alone, the Department of Education and Training has sent 97 teachers to participate in professional development activities, including 8 core teachers in Mathematics and Literature.

"The most meaningful thing is that teachers have the opportunity to sit down together, share experiences, and overcome difficulties in the exam preparation process. For schools in disadvantaged areas, direct exchange with key teachers from the Department helps teachers gain more direction to adjust their teaching methods more effectively," Mr. Anh shared.

Focus on underperforming students and pay attention to students in remote and disadvantaged areas.

At Bao Lac High School, located in Bao Lac commune in the northwestern border region of Cao Bang province, exam preparation begins very early. The school currently has 200 12th-grade students and maintains continuous review sessions from September 2025 until just before the exam.

This is also one of the locations chosen for cluster-based professional development activities, allowing teachers from schools in the area to learn from each other and exchange experiences.

Mr. Ha Van Toan, Principal of Bao Lac High School, said: The Department of Education and Training has assigned 8 core teachers, including 4 math teachers and 4 literature teachers, to directly support professional development. In addition, 35 teachers from high schools and vocational training centers in the area are participating.

"The core teachers directly teach, organize class observations, exchange ideas, analyze lessons, and resolve difficulties during the exam preparation process. This is a practical activity, suitable for the conditions of schools in disadvantaged areas," Mr. Toan said.

Bao Lac High School also organizes many mock exams to assess and classify students, thereby adjusting the review content accordingly. In recent years, the school's graduation rate has consistently been above 99%, and this year the school continues to strive for the highest possible results.

As a teacher directly teaching Literature at Bao Lac High School, Ms. Be Thuy Diep said that, given the unique characteristics of students in border areas who have limited access to information, teachers not only review knowledge but also guide them to update current events and develop skills in approaching open-ended questions related to real-world situations.

"The school categorizes students into different levels for review, from basic to advanced, helping them feel more confident when entering the exam," Ms. Diep shared.

At Be Van Dan High School, exam preparation is systematically implemented from the beginning of the school year. After mock exams and periodic tests, the school categorizes students to provide appropriate support, paying particular attention to those at risk of low scores.

Ms. Ta Thuy Van, a math teacher at Be Van Dan High School, said that teachers closely follow the new exam structure and divide students into groups according to their abilities to develop appropriate review content.

"For students with weaker academic abilities, teachers focus on teaching from easy to difficult, helping them grasp the basic knowledge before gradually increasing the difficulty level," Ms. Van said.

Trieu Phuong Vy, a student in class 12A3 at Be Van Dan High School, shared: “I find this year's exam preparation method very scientific . The teachers helped us fill in the areas where we were weak, so we felt more confident before the exam.”

The 2026 high school graduation exam is scheduled to take place from June 10th to 13th. There are still many crucial days ahead with considerable pressure, but thanks to the proactive approach of the Education sector, the support of teachers and parents, and the efforts of students, schools in Cao Bang are hoping for a successful exam season.
