In early May 2026, we had the opportunity to visit the family of Ms. Duong Thi Van Anh in Tien Hop 2 village, Bac Son commune. Ms. Van Anh shared: "My family has been raising chickens for many years, but on a scale of only about 1,500 birds. In 2023, with the guidance and support of bank officials, my family established a project to borrow 500 million VND with interest rate support according to Resolution No. 08 dated December 10, 2019, of the Provincial People's Council on specific policies to encourage investment, development of cooperation, and linkage in production and consumption of agricultural and rural products in the province for the period 2020-2025. With the capital, my family expanded the area of the chicken coop and increased the flock to 3,000 birds. Raising chickens brings in an income of over 200 million VND per year for my family after deducting expenses."
Besides providing loans for livestock development, Agribank's Bac Son branch in Lang Son has facilitated many households to borrow capital for the development of integrated economic models. A typical example is Mr. Duong Van Huong's household in Hop Nhat village, Tan Tri commune. Mr. Huong shared: "With the desire to develop economic models combined with experiential tourism, in 2023, I applied for a loan of 1.5 billion VND from the bank to plant bamboo-skinned persimmon trees, sand ginseng, raise bees for honey, and raise freshwater crabs. With the capital, I also renovated the space and landscaping around the models for visitors to explore and experience. To date, the beekeeping and freshwater crab farming models have brought my family over 400 million VND per year, creating seasonal jobs for 20 local workers. Currently, the bamboo-skinned persimmon and sand ginseng cultivation models are developing very well, with expected harvest at the end of 2026."
Not only the families of Ms. Van Anh and Mr. Huong, but over the years, thousands of households in the former Bac Son district have been given access to preferential loans from Agribank to develop economic models. To date, the total outstanding loan balance of the branch has reached over 1,000 billion VND with over 5,100 borrowers, of which loans in the agricultural and rural sector account for over 90%, with an outstanding balance of 924 billion VND. This is also the branch with the largest outstanding loan balance for agriculture and rural areas in the region. The loan capital has helped people develop models such as: livestock farming, forestry, fruit tree cultivation, service businesses, etc.
Ms. Luong Thi Kieu Oanh, Director of Agribank's Bac Son branch in Lang Son, said: "To bring capital to the people, the bank focuses on disseminating information and advising customers on loan programs and procedures. At the same time, we closely supervise credit officers in charge of monitoring each commune, understanding the people's loan needs to promptly advise and support them in preparing loan applications and using capital effectively. In addition, the bank proactively cooperates with the Farmers' Association and the Women's Union of the communes to establish loan groups. When people need loans, these loan groups will proactively assist with the necessary procedures. To date, outstanding loans through these loan groups have reached over 248 billion VND."
Thanks to these efforts and endeavors, for many years, Agribank's Bac Son branch in Lang Son has consistently been commended and rewarded by Agribank Lang Son for outstanding performance; in 2025, the branch received a certificate of merit from the People's Committee of Bac Son commune for its achievements in production and business activities contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.
“Over the years, Agribank's Bac Son branch in Lang Son has consistently been a leader in quickly and promptly delivering agricultural and rural credit funds to the people. This has helped people feel secure in developing production, repaying loans and interest on time, and preventing loan misappropriation and arrears. This has contributed to promoting local economic development, increasing people's income, and reducing the prevalence of illegal lending in rural areas.” Mr. Nguyen Hong Duc, Director of Agribank Lang Son Branch |
