With the theme "Building an advanced culture imbued with national identity - The driving force for national development in the new era - The era of the Vietnamese people's rise", the conference focused on evaluating outstanding results in 2024 and key tasks in 2025.
Reporting at the conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung assessed that the work of culture, sports and tourism in 2024 achieved important and comprehensive results in all fields. Awareness of the role, position and importance of the industry has been clearly raised.
The development of cultural industries has received special attention from the Party and the State and the strong participation of all levels, sectors, localities and the whole society. The mass sports movement has been strongly promoted, high-performance sports have been given attention, focused on and achieved many positive results.
In particular, Vietnam's tourism has recovered after the Covid-19 pandemic and has had impressive growth, becoming a bright spot in the overall socio-economic development. In particular, successfully organizing national and regional events... associated with building tourism brands in the spirit of "using culture to develop tourism, using tourism to develop culture".
In 2024, Vietnam will welcome about 17.5 million international visitors (up 38.9% over the same period in 2023), and domestic visitors will reach 110 million. Total tourism revenue is estimated at about VND 840 trillion (up 23.8% over the same period in 2023).
The conference recorded many opinions and discussions from provinces and cities on solutions for developing cultural industries; culture in the new era - the era of national development; tax reduction policies for cultural fields; policies for sports development, etc.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged the efforts and congratulated the important results achieved by the entire industry in 2024. In particular, continuing to strongly transform the mindset from doing culture to state management of culture. Vietnam's cultural and entertainment industries have made remarkable progress.
The Prime Minister emphasized that in the coming time, the most important task for the industry is to turn the Vietnamese cultural values into resources to bring the country into a new era of prosperity and strength as directed by General Secretary To Lam. Continue to internationalize the values of Vietnamese cultural identity and people to the world and nationalize the world's cultural quintessence into Vietnam.
The Prime Minister suggested that in 2025, the industry must accelerate with innovative thinking, strategic vision, foresight, thinking deeply, doing big things, effectively implementing the set goals, achieving higher results than in 2024. In particular, developing mass sports in breadth, high-performance sports in depth, developing breakthrough tourism, being a key economic sector associated with culture and sports.
