The open class took place at class 6A1, Ngo Tat To Secondary School, Phu Nhuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City on November 14 for English subject. One native teacher and one Vietnamese teacher taught the class together.

Notably, this is the first time the school has held an open class, so the guests attending the class are not only parents of class 6A1, but also many parents from other classes of Ngo Tat To Secondary School.

After the initial awkward moments of having their parents come to observe the lesson, the 6A1 students quickly caught up with the lesson progress. The two teachers used many different teaching methods (such as: question and answer, group discussion, free movement to interview and complete the teacher's assigned tasks, presentations, etc.) to make the lesson flow naturally and lively.

Ms. Trinh Kim Ly, parent of class 6A1, commented: "I was very happy to observe my daughter's class for the first time. Seeing her active, confident in speaking and presenting in front of the class, I was really excited. I did not expect the class to be so fun and interesting. After observing the opening class, I felt very secure in letting my child study and practice at Ngo Tat To School."

Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Trinh, parent of class 6A5, expressed: "The two teachers have implemented innovative teaching methods and constantly interacted with the students, so I see that the students are very comfortable and happy when studying.

Not only that, the two teachers also regularly come down to the students' desks to check how they have done their homework. Such closeness and closeness are very necessary. I hope that in the future the school will expand the open classroom model in my child's class and in many different subjects, not just English."

It is known that the open classroom model, inviting parents to attend their children's lessons, has been implemented by some primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City. However, high schools are still hesitant to implement open lessons, especially teachers. Therefore, Ngo Tat To Secondary School is considered one of the first secondary schools to implement this model.

Will expand the open lesson model in many subjects

According to Principal Ngo Thanh Bao, Ngo Tat To Secondary School implements open classes with the aim of publicizing the quality of education, while creating opportunities for parents to participate, observe, give comments and accompany teachers in improving the quality of teaching and learning.

"We randomly selected class 6A1 and selected English lessons with native teachers so that parents could better understand the teaching activities in the enhanced English classes. All lessons taught by native teachers have an additional Vietnamese teacher (who can be the school's English teacher or a partner's English teacher).

In the near future, Ngo Tat To Secondary School plans to expand the open classroom model to many different classes and subjects," said Mr. Bao.
