According to meteorological forecasts, the El Nino phenomenon is likely to begin between June and August this year and will be strong.
Hot weather is likely to become more frequent, prolonged, and intense. This means that electricity demand will continue to increase, putting significant pressure on the national power grid. Therefore, using electricity efficiently and economically is not just a recommendation, but has become an urgent requirement to ensure energy security and sustainable development.
Taking advantage of their rooftop space, Mrs. Thuy's family (Ha Dong ward, Hanoi ) has installed a solar power system for their daily needs. According to her, this solution not only helps the family reduce their monthly electricity bill by 50% - 60%, but also contributes to reducing pressure on the national power grid during intense heat waves.

People should turn off appliances when not in use, use electrical devices wisely, and take advantage of natural light.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy shared: "Before, I rarely turned on this 36,000 BTU air conditioner because the electricity bill was so high. But since installing solar power, I feel comfortable using anything, without any pressure, and I've saved a lot of money."
Not only households, but many businesses are also adjusting their electricity usage methods. In many cafes, with their spacious interiors and numerous appliances, saving electricity is always a priority.
Mr. Vu Duc Hieu (owner of a coffee shop in Hoang Liet ward, Hanoi) said: "We have regulations on when to turn on the lights and fans during certain hours. During the day, there is relatively plenty of light, so we don't use electricity."
The scorching heat is causing a surge in electricity demand, with forecasts predicting the northern power grid's load will reach 29,000 MW next week, 9.8% higher than the record level recorded on May 15th.
Experts advise people to turn off appliances when not in use, use electrical appliances rationally, take advantage of natural light, and regularly clean and maintain electrical equipment. Prioritize using energy-efficient appliances or invest in solar power when possible.
Saving electricity sometimes starts with very small actions, but when millions of people change together, it creates a big impact. This can absolutely begin with the daily habits of each individual.
