According to a report released by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) on the afternoon of November 12, car consumption has increased again.
Imported cars "reign"
Accordingly, total sales of association members in October 2025 reached 37,910 vehicles , up 24% over the previous month. Of which, passenger cars reached 27,246 units, up 33%, commercial vehicles 10,162 units, up 6.6% and specialized vehicles 502 units, down 15%.
From the beginning of the year to the end of October 2025, total sales of VAMA members reached 289,331 vehicles , an increase of 9.5% over the same period in 2024. Specifically, passenger cars increased by 2%, commercial vehicles increased by 31% and specialized vehicles increased by 76%.
Notably, in October, imported cars reached sales of 20,781 vehicles , up 28% over the previous month, while domestically assembled cars reached 17,129 vehicles , up 19% .
This is the 8th consecutive month that imported cars have sold more than domestically assembled cars.
In the first 10 months of the year, sales of domestically assembled cars reached 137,047 units, up 3%, while imported cars reached 152,284 units , up 17.5% over the same period in 2024.
Experts say this difference reflects the trend of Vietnamese people increasingly favoring imported cars thanks to diverse models, rich equipment and more flexible pricing policies.
However, VAMA's data does not reflect the entire market , because the two major car companies VinFast and Hyundai announce separately.
In the electric vehicle segment, VinFast continues to affirm its position by becoming the first brand in Vietnam to surpass the 100,000 vehicle sales mark in just the first three quarters of 2025.
The Vietnamese car company has led the entire market in sales for 11 consecutive months, holding an overwhelming market share in the electric vehicle segment and consolidating its position as a national brand in the domestic automobile market.

A series of car models are on sale to stimulate shopping before Tet.
The closer to Lunar New Year, the more exciting the Vietnamese auto market becomes as many car companies and dealers simultaneously launch discount programs and support registration fees to stimulate consumer demand.
Ford Vietnam continues to support 100% of registration fees for Ranger pickup trucks, helping customers save from 42.5 to 130 million VND depending on the version.
Mitsubishi Vietnam has sharply reduced its selling price, with the Xpander Cross now priced at just under 630 million VND, the AT Premium at 593 million VND, and the Xpander MT manufactured in 2024 reduced to 504 million VND. The Xforce model is also discounted by 60 - 70 million VND, with the actual price remaining at 539 - 610 million VND.
Honda Vietnam applies similar incentives to many car models such as HR-V, Civic e:HEV RS, City and BR-V, helping buyers save 50 - 100 million VND. Suzuki also joins the race with XL7 Hybrid and Jimny, giving away 100% of the registration fee along with a 3.5-year maintenance package.
According to auto industry experts, this is the "golden time" to buy a car, when incentives are considered the deepest of the year, helping consumers easily own a new car before the Tet holiday.
